It must have been against the rules, even back then (around 1980?) even in a private school. But then again, did you think anything of it when you were told to pull your knickers down? And would your parents have complained had they known?

I think there's a happy medium between the old days (like this) and modern times (where little Johnny/Joanne can't do anything wrong, and the parents complain about anything). Don't you think?

@MickB72: It probably was against the rules - when has that ever stopped teachers doing whatever they wanted? I did think anything of it when I was told to take my knickers down, I was used to that at home whenever I was slippered there. I doubt my parents would have complained. They always spanked me bare bottom and parents always took the teacher's side in those days.

There might be a happy medium but too many teachers are so power crazed I wouldn't trust them. Just consider some of the stupid rules they make, for no reason other than they can.

@Lynda70: And think back to those days, who would have believed you? If you'd made a fuss out of it, and the teacher denied it, you'd have had the finger pointed at you as being a troublemaker - which they clearly had you marked down as even then! It wasn't as if there were any independent witnesses to it. You're right with parents supporting the teachers too - try having a father who was a teacher, used to work at your school a decade earlier and still knew most of the senior staff!! 🙄

I suppose it was. I always got it bare at home and usually more whacks so it wasn't as much of an ordeal as it might have been. Knickers don't give protection anyway.

@Lynda70 It may have been just a threat, but to a nine year old boy, that threat worked. Lol

@chrisCA My teachers didn't make threats, they took immediate action.

I tended to hang around with boys more than girls.

Even at that age I got on very well with boys.

@Pop0159: Nobody saw me get it on my bare bottom, I told them later when I showed off the results.

@Lynda70: yea we called the resulting marks and color our "badge of courage" .. .. ..

@Pop0159: We didn't have any special name for them, we just called them our marks.

@JoBlak: My mother slippered me before my father did.
