What was said at a funeral that you will never forget?
My father actually said this. While sitting in the pew, at his sister’s funeral. The preacher was going on about what a great, kind, and selfless lady my aunt was. At the one moment when the preacher had taken a breath, when the chapel was silent, my father turned to me, and in no low voice asked me, “Did this guy ever meet my sister, much less know her”! It took everything I had to not burst out laughing.
You need to know one thing, my dad and his sister were really close. They loved each other greatly. But they were polar opposites in personality, she being loud and boisterous, he, quiet and reserved. Sweet, kind and selfless was absolutely not what would come to mind if you really knew her. The life of the party fit her much better!
