I In My Own Words

I'm seriously considering buying a beat up old live in camper thing, to go off and live like a nomad, or finding a cave to live in like a hermit. Get away from everything.

This morning, I received news that my brother died. This is while I'm recovering from the death of my former husband, (8-weeks ago), and all the drama surrounding that. I'm beginning to think that it will be me next because this is becoming too much to deal with alone, on top of all the other stuff I'm dealing with.

Maybe going "full hermit" is the only way to get away from all this cr*p.

Very sorry to hear that your brother died. Virtual hugs from me.

After my wife died, 12 years ago, I took off on my own for a bit and it worked well. Nothing as radical as a cave, though, just a cottage with a comfortable bed.

Best wishes, anyway.

@MartinII Would you tell me more about it. I think I need to go away somewhere. Was it remote, and for how long?
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Carissimi Only for a week, so much less dramatic than you are suggesting. In a rented cottage on my own, in Cornwall. Just walked and thought. Didn't talk to anyone, except people in shops, pubs etc. But I wouldn't claim it was the complete shutting off from civilisation that you may be thinking of.

I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. Especially of family. I hope you can soon find peace in your heart. Perhaps getting away a bit isn't such a bad idea. Hugs!

Thank you. That may be a good idea. @Livingwell

I'm so sorry!!! Hugs to you. I hope you find strength to get through this and have friends to talk to at least. Prayers for you and your family. 😔

@Keepitsimple Thank you. I have no friends where I live, but I have a few distant friends. And SW friends are a blessing.

I am truly sorry for what you have to bear now. It is so much for one to deal with. 🤗 Sending hugs from here.

@lasergraph Thank you. Hugs back.

I am so sorry for your loss.

May be getting away from it all is what you need to do,if your gut feelings tell you so then it is what you must do.

Oh, no!

Cari, you have been going through the worst stuff the past few years. I wish I could help. PM me if you ever need to talk.
Carissimi · F
@SmartKat Thanks, Kat. I've been dealing with stuff so long on my own that I just deal with it alone, except to vent once in a while in writing. Writing and letting off steam helps, but I may just write to you about something that's been bothering me with a recent development.

@seeandhear Thank you. But, if I don't have anyone to "hold me up" when I'm carrying a heavy load, then I wonder how long before I can't hold myself up, which I've been doing for a very long time.
