Boxing Buffs: Mike Tyson vs. Jack Johnson 馃

uniglow36-40, M
It would be a good fight. What I notice about Tyson is that he often used his lack of height advantage to land the hook and uppercut combination with his right hand, the uppercut coming in with such force, accuracy and speed that it could be devastating. I know less about Jack Johnson, but I know he wasn't too much taller than Tyson (and this may be to his advantage). You'd have to imagine Tyson would have too much for him (and for many modern boxers too).

@HoraceGreenley He did. His reach wasn't the best and if someone was five or more inches taller, the force the uppercut landed with seemed to diminish with each extra inch. Although he floored Jose Ribalta with an uppercut and Ribalta had seven or eight inches on Tyson.

@uniglow the razor ruddock fight was Tyson鈥檚 best fight against a taller guy in my view

@Temporallube Both of them were incredible performances. That second fight, Tyson came out like a tornado. I don't think I've ever seen anything else like it. Formidable.

How does anyone not pick Tyson in his prime? The combinations! The speed! The power!

Tyson but Johnson was one tough SOB

@HoraceGreenley I鈥檓 thinking so too. Tyson probably had the better endurance and strength training as well.

@Temporallube Yeah and one punch power works on anyone
