Do You Think That Roman Reigns Is Faking Leukemia In Order To Re-emerge As A Face When He Beats It?

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSSLHiWpe0k&feature=onebox]

This is the WWE Reality Era, where kayfabe no longer exists, and in order to stay contemporary, writers need to be more creative than ever. Today Roman Reigns announced that he's been battling leukemia for 11 years, but I suspect that this is a worked angle, and not a legitimate fact. From the manner in which Roman announced the news, to the inconsistent body language, I believe this hiatus would be the perfect opportunity get Roman over with the crowd and finally put him into the John Cena stratosphere.

Roman is not the biggest big guy, his mic skills aren't heel-level edgy, and although he can wrestle consistently, he's not quite as technically adept as some of the natural-born superstars. The reason I mention these qualities I see in Roman, is because I believe these qualities would make him a babyface heavyweight underdog.

The wrestling industry has been known to use hiatuses in the past to make crowds love wrestlers, and WWE has been trying to make audiences love Roman Reigns. If I'm completely wrong on this theory I apologise profusely, but I suppose only time will tell.

Even WWE aren't stupid enough to do that nowadays. They also wouldn't give their now top merch seller what will be a long hiatus just so he stops getting booed.

@thatscottishguy They've benched their top guys in the past for months at a time in order to boost sales through popularity.

Given the Crown Jewel debacle occurring, I wouldn't put my faith in the collective intelligence of the WWE.

Usually the top guys being benched has been because of a real reason and not just because they get booed. We had 10 years of let's go cena/cena sucks and his lengthy periods out were due to real injuries. Roman is the most popular full time performer they have in terms of sales and overall reaction with the cheering and the booing. I highly doubt this will be him out for a couple of months then surprise royal rumble entry. They would not choose to have Roman off TV for such a lengthy period of time.

The Crown Jewel stuff is more unfortunate circumstances than their stupidity. Yes they should never have had a deal with Saudi Arabia in the first place but the world doesn't care about them killing Yemenis so who was to know people would care about them killing someone? Now they are trying to figure out the best move on that with regards to PR and sponsors. Imagine the reaction of sponsors if it got out that the whole leukemia thing is a work.

Too many risks just to get a man cheered instead of booed. As crazy as Vince is even he would see that and everyone around him would too.

I like this new way of wrestling and the sub plots they create! But, yes, I would say that these story-lines go hand in hand! One of the things I like is the great skill that is used to demonstrate their moves with minimal injury - if any! In the past, wrestlers would suffer quite terrible injuries!
@SW-User Yes! Their skills are quite remarkable. I have videos of one of those types of wrestling featuring Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Ray Mysterio. I remember watching Mysterio perform about a twenty foot dive from inside the cage onto his opponent! No-one was injured! That is skill! The story-lines were good, too!

@EugenieLaBorgia I'm amazed that Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, and Jeff Hardy can still work as well as they do; they're true professionals.
@SW-User The whole environment surrounding this 'modern' way of wrestling is quite phenomenal! I have old English beta tapes of a man called Bert Royal - wrestling, I believe, in the 70's or 80's and there is real damage occurring!

This is the guy the Undertaker passed the torch on to.
Yet he gets more boos than Cena has in the recent years.

Cena is still around, and he still has many years of wrestling before he says goodbye. They need someone on the Undertaker's stratosphere, and Vince is looking at Roman.

I don't think the WWE would fake this kind of stuff. More likely they're giving him time off to recover. Perhaps when he returns, he will receive more respect and cheers.

Let's not forget that Vince McMahon blew himself up as a gimmick. I would not be surprised if this leukemia thing is fake.
It wouldn’t be cool if he was
SW-User
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Which is why no one would ever know, but if he returned many would suspect.

I still believe the Montreal Screwjob was a work.
SW-User
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout The reason I believe MSJ was a work, was because it was the perfect platform to launch the character of Vince McMahon, and it would have given Bret Hart a great way to return.

When Hart announced wrestling to be fake, if this was scripted, he not only put WWE at an advantage, but all the writers of the competition at a complete disadvantage, dealing a severe blow to WCW.

Not a chance in hell. 💕 The Big Dog 💕🙏

@Montanaman I bet he comes back jacked like Jinder Mahal, I bet that's really why he's gone right now. Not only that, but it will be at the Royal Rumble.
SW-User
@Montanaman He'll come back and make some speech about how he never gave up, and he trained every day knowing he would return to reclaim his yard, and then he'll say something like, "Now I'm back, and stronger than ever". Eventually the shield will re-unite, despite all the current turmoil between Ambrose and Rollins, maybe even make some allusion to brothers feuding, but at the end of the day they're still brothers. Who knows? Maybe Drew Mcyntire, Braun Strowman, and Ziggler will come out, and reignite their feud, after Reigns puts Strowman down at the Rumble. It might even occur as soon as Fastlane, or whatever show they put in between Rumble and Mania.

@SW-User could be right.👍
