I Am Newly Separated

Opening The Trunk...... For the first I opened the trunk that I packed so frantically. That was almost 3 months ago when I packed it. I found two t-shirts that she bought me for my birthday. I don’t know if I’ll wear them. Because they look like something a retarded person would wear. Found a ton of clothes that I simply threw in when I made my hasty escape. Mainly winter clothes. I won’t need them so I’m moving them to plastic storage bins. I can smell the smell of the dryer sheets I used to dry them. Part of me thinks to myself they smell so sweet from the ex wife doing my laundry. But she never did my laundry. When she did she did such a half-ass job that I was sifting through a pile of clothes for about 15 mins not knowing what was dirty or clean. I found a belt I was looking for awhile ago. And many sweaters. Many many sweaters, that i’ll probably never wear. I found an old pair of flip flops. Not even flip flops. More like shower shoes. Still grimy from the last time I mowed her mother’s yard. I think I was a damn good son-in-law. And she deprived her mother of a son-in-law who would help her with just about anything, usually with a good attitude. I found khakis and jeans my Aunt gave me. Hand-me-downs rock, because it’s someone you know and love that is giving it to you, not from a store. There’s a lot of love in hand-me-downs. Some of you just don’t understand down-home redneck love. It’s the kind of love you feel when you go visit family they’re so glad to see you. They have a meal ready and you sit down at the table and everybody holds hands while someone prays the blessing. I haven’t felt that in a long time. I also found an old t-shirt I had for years. The ex wore it to sleep in during our honeymoon. I’ll keep it to remember better times with her, along with the other contents of the trunk.
