Will someone please amputate my left shoulder??

Think I may have torn my rotary cuff. My shoulder has been in pain on and off the last couple of weeks. I thought nothing of it with the work I do, which can involve heavy lifting. Today, while walking through Home Depot, I got to the point where it was painful enough to stop me in my steps. I couldn't even move. I'm about to have what we call a cocktail. Both ibuprofen and gabapentin. That should get me through the night. *sigh*

Got back from Doc. Agrees about the torn rotary cuff, also suggested tendinitis. Gave me a shot of Toredol to ease up the inflammation, and called in a prescription. I don't remember just what. Staff is calling my insurance to approve my MRI. I will go back in to see Doc on Thursday for a check up.

Have you seen an orthopedic surgeon?

I tore my rotator cuff on my left shoulder doing bench presses in 2014. After going for physical therapy on & off & getting 2 cortisone shots, I finally got laparoscopic surgery in 2016. I had 4.5 mths it PT after that, but I completely healed.

@silentwriter180 That’s good because in your line of work, it seems like you will have to do a lot of lifting.

You will also need to decide btwn a regular orthopedic surgeon or one who specializes in sports. Since I was working out a lot back then, I chose the sports orthopedic surgeon.

You’ll need to get an MRI done to find out exactly where the tear is & how bad it is.

@marsbar Just got back from Doc. Will be getting approval from insurance for an MRI. I should be able to go in early next week.

Google, rotator cuff injury. There are certain movements that cause real trouble with a tear in the cuff. Other movements with you arm cause no trouble at all. I am personally recovering from shoulder surgery at this moment.
I also tore the opposite one several years ago.
