I Believe In Good Samaritans

The other night I was on my way home from visiting a friend and got extremely lost. It was all my fault. I'm directionally challenged. I was texting my girlfriend to request a cover story and when I looked up I realized I had missed my exit. I was headed for one of two destinations, neither of which were anywhere I needed to go. Because I was afraid to continue I took the next exit which apparently did not have an entrance ramp to the road I had just left. After driving through increasingly dangerous neighborhoods with no gas station in sight I was becoming very worried. I tried to use the GPS on my phone and it wouldn't work. I could not find any helpful signs to figure out where I was I wasn't even sure what town I was in. Lol. I called my friend and he said baby I don't have any idea where you are try to find someone or something that looks safe. So when I passed a mill of some sort I pulled into the parking lot to try my gps again. That's when I saw a big white pickup leaving the lot. I drive over quickly and thru myself on his mercy and asked for directions. He tried to help me but as my eyes began to glaze over from the directions he realized I had no clue. Lol. So he offered to take me to my exit if I would follow him. 25 minutes later on a snowy night and I'm sure a long way out of his way he put me on my way home. I waved and yelled 'I love you sweetheart' and made it home safely. Thank God for him and all the other good Samaritans out there.

You know, I think that there's a lot more kindness in plain "human nature" that it generally gets credited with. And I think that basic kindness shows through so rarely because it gets covered over with layers of crap thinking foisted on us by society -- which makes it even more meaningful when it *does* break through to the surface.

These are the ones who restore our faith in humanity. There are so many in our everyday life, those who hold the door open who offer a smile, or a hug. It's the bigger ones who shine through that we really notice.

I am so happy for you that it all turned out well. You don't see stories like that in the News.

I have been known to do this myself and have had the same favor returned on many an occasion. Live Long Good Sams!

That was quite a situation. I have been there myself and know how it feels.
