I Dont Respect People Just Because Theyre Older

I start out with a certain level of respect for everybody, but if you do something to lose that respect then you have to earn it back. I’m not going to automatically pay it back to you because you’re older. Respect has to be given to both sides for it to work properly otherwise the side that isn’t being respected will become resentful towards then domineer. If you treat me like dirt then I won't respect you, that would be like respecting an 11 year old bully when you’re 6, it’s not going to happen. If you have a problem with the way I’m presenting myself then tell me, but in a normal, sane, civilised manner. Insults and barking orders isnjust going to lose respect and build up fear and hatred. Kind words can go a long way, there isn’t much that is more respectable than telling someone your problems with them in a humane way.

I’ve met a lot genuine lovely older people who are full of respect for me and for those around me, they talk to me like I’m somebody and I treat them with my utmost respect. But then there is that little minority’s who spoil it for everyone; who can’t get off of their high horse and who think that, because they’re older they’re better and that means that they can be rude and really quite nasty to younger people.

A prime example is a teacher in my old school, I didn’t respect her at all because she was awful. She screamed the place down and she would let a diabetic student go out of the room to sort themself out. Nobody respected her because she was unreasonable.

People should show each respect, and those who don’t give it don’t deserve it back
