Do you remember thinking anything in particular as a child that was huge and profound to you then because you were young?

Landing on the moon. I used to get up at 4am to watch every liftoff - Gemini, Apollo. Magnificent machines, heroic men. Probably why I'm an engineer.

2012 thought we were all going to die.

The size and age of the universe.

Yet I am still in awe.

I was in 5th grade and we learned about the greek gods and how they were created by man to explain all the things that people could not. I was really confused because up until that point God and heaven I had never even thought to question but I couldn't help but think that these two situations seemed really similar. I asked my teacher and she told me that science proved that those gods were false whereas todays God was real. It wasn't until a conversation with my Dad did I understand she wasn't being entirely truthful.
