So who's actually the funny one? The person who's funny without trying or the person who has to be a try hard to be funny?

Asking because my friend seems to think being naturally funny isn't a talent and that you have to actually be trying hard to be funny to be truly funny.

Though I think he's mad because people find my unfiltered thoughts way funnier than his unoriginal jokes.

I don't even find anything funny about people who try to be funny.

Whatever method results in the funniest jokes, is the best. 99% of the time, that method is to NOT try hard, and just making things up on the spot. It's even funnier when even the joker didn't expect the punch line.

I took comedy improv classes so I know what I'm talking about lol.

@InvaderNice: Lol I took improv classes in high school (as well as anything theater/drama related) so I agree with you. Though, some people tend to not think of it that way.

I think both.
I believe that humor is a naturally occuring trait in each of us. Some of us develope while others let it sit dormant.
Humor is rather fragile, fleeting, finicky even, easy to learn, impossible to master.

It's obvious when someone is trying to be funnt not good and crinegworthy

Natural funnyness is so much better. I sense jealousy too

If they're funny, they're funny. Amount of effort is irrelevant
