@Serenitree: I don't know about that. Isn't the goal of Similar Worlds (like Experience Project before it) to share real life experiences, to build empathy and sense of community with others that have similar experiences?
Say for instance someone makes an account and posts all about their lengthy battle with cancer, gets all the compassion from users that have had cancer or friends/family with cancer, and maybe even takes donations from other users to help pay their massive medical bills. Then about a year into posting their treatment stories it's revealed the user was never sick, that the entire series of posts was a massive lie and manipulation, and the community fell for it. I could see that kind of thing being a legal liability for Similar Worlds, and it would certainly violate the Terms of Service.
The user Hailey was talking about luckily never asked for money, but he did fabricate a couple of serious stories that garnered sympathy from pet owners over his fictional dead pet, and that was rather manipulative and histrionic, to say the least. I, too, feel compassion for the guy and can easily forgive him especially if he makes amends to any others in the group that his manipulative fiction hurt.
