Trump gives a normal speech to Congress and then goes bat****crazy on Twitter. And he's the Prez?

...

Presidents do not, and can not order wire tapping.
As President you'd think Trump would know that.
I think he does.
So, Why then go on Twitter accusing Obama of wire tapping Trump Tower during the campaign?

The heat must be getting pretty close, to go off on a tangent like that.
Spin, deflect, obfuscate, project your sins on the other, etc

Whatever this is, it bombs the heck out of any good his speech did.
Anyone on the fence saying maybe just give this guy a chance just jumped WAY off the fence.

Unhinged in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave!
Absurd.
And anyone defending this deserves him.

Accusing a former President of something the former President could not have carried out anyway.

Pass the popcorn! This is one hell of a horror show.

He gave off a normal speech? More like Congress told trump what to say so he won't be an idiot

You may want to check history a bit. Presidents can order wiretaps and bugs and presidents of both parties have. That said I don't think that Trump Tower was wire tapped. I think that Obama and the Democrats were so sure Hillary would win that they pretty much ignored Trump
Northwest · M
@GJOFJ3: let me help you a little bit here.

1. Lyndon Johnson was president 50 years ago.

2. Edgar Hoover is the one who, illegally spied on MLK.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@Northwest: if the FBI did indeed wiretap Trump Tower, it is not Obama who should worry.

Obama has said neither he nor his White House had asked for the recordings.

Your point about Presidents being authorized to demand wiretaps may be correct. Today there are opinions and conclusions supporting either side all over the news. Lol. If I was incorrect earlier, I apologize.

Did Johnson and Hoover collide re King wiretaps?
I believe Bobby Kennedy felt that Hoover had the Kennedy's phones tapped too.

The point re Trump is if there were wiretaps, they existed (unless illegally) with the grant of a FISA court warrant. In order to obtain that warrant, a judge would have had to be shown solid evidence that there was collision between Trumps team and Russia's.

Warrants are not given out easily. There must be credible evidence to indicate a CRIME is occurring.

Not merely rumour. If rumour were the case, no warrant would be granted.

FISA is a particularly harder warrant to obtain against a private citizen as Trump obviously was while running for office. Therefore the bar would have been much higher to traverse in the FISA Court to have that warrant granted. The USA takes wiretapping private citizens very seriously. FISA would only grant such a warrant where there is credible evidence a suspect is colluding with a foreign government. .

Should such a warrant have been granted, the FBI, or the Justice Dept would have had to disclose pretty solid evidence that they needed to prove by wiretap that which was becoming evident through investigation.

Not an easy warrant to get.
The fact they got it (if they did) is trouble for Trump.
Northwest · M
@CassandraFemale17: The FBI does not discuss with the President open investigations, and the same applies to the President. The press is now reporting that the FBI Directory, Comey, wants the Justice department to deny the President's claims, but seeing that Sessions has recused himself, the top officials are Trump employees, and are not responding to Comey's request.

The President may "request" an investigation, but President Obama's office said that he did not. The President CANNOT order a wiretap. This is a matter for the JUDICIAL branch of the government.

If indeed someone was spying on Trump, they would need a FISA court order, and as you noted, it's not possible to get that, without showing credible data.

If they did it without a court order, then of course it would be illegal, and must be prosecuted.

Johnson never colluded with Hoover. Hoover had dirt on Johnson, related to his extramarital life. Hoover also had evidence, photos, recordings, etc. on the Kennedy Brothers' extramarital affairs. Hoover had dirt on everyone, and the bulk of it was illegally obtained. It was not until after he died, that the FBI was made to comply with the laws of the land.

He got credit for not doing a speech in blackface...then he fucked it up
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
Lmao.

I know. Because he didn't drool, we are supposed to think he was amazing.

He didn't mention many things so important, Environment, Equal rights, womens rights, how the heck will he address Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security costs, etc..he doesn't mention some because he will decimate them and doesn't want to mention it.

Wow...you have a maturity and sensibility beyond your tender years. Go on like that and you will have a great future in front of you....

He's not crazy. ...Obama's in deep shit

Lololololo. Good story
lorne13 · 61-69, M
trumps' narcissism is driving him insane
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@lorne13: I have read three books on Watergate. The scandal of Watergate started exactly like this did. Not many took it seriously, or thought there was much to it when it began. Once it was more newsworthy, most never thought the President could be involved in the minutiae of a third rate burglary (men in ties with burglary equipment) or in its cover up.

People gave him the benefit of the doubt for a long time. He was even re-elected during this period. However heads started to roll, people were going to jail, and they were all close to the fire.

Trump is sounding like Nixon did then.
Coincidence?

?

Thank you for the post. I think the President has moved on. His last tweet, this morning, a few seconds after dropping an accusation, the size of Watergate, with no proof, is how Arnold did not quit the Apprentice on his own, but was fired. That's the issue the nation needs to turn its attention to now.

I'll add this morning's tweets, to his other explosive, but unproven tweets, like the 3M-5M illegal votes.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
Lol, those 3-5 million people were in California.

Could Arnold, a former Governor have had all the evidence hidden?
No wonder The Apprentice has lost ratings.

Arnold's been REALLY busy!!!!!! He hasn't had time.
Meanwhile a real Apprentice is the leader of the not-so-free world!

Lol
Jazzy · 26-30, F
I understand that as President, everything he says or writes become part of American history. Where is all this documents kept? Do you know if all his tweets are copied and preserved somewhere?
Northwest · M
Twitter is not official government business, so it does not have to be preserved by law. Twitter itself, however, keeps these records and dozens of other companies do.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
It will all be In the presidential library. What a tour that will be 😀
