I have to ask this, have you been nervous since the #blm protests?

I've been to two different places a chiropractor and a skin clinic and each time I've been dealt with by Caucasian women.
After a small time with me I notice their nerves building.

I'm not a monster.
But they get really awkward.
Either dropping something or flapping.

Ugh!

This isn't good if this is what it has done.
I've gotten more nervous near cops. Never know when one is going to snap and kill someone.

@Mellowgirl Yeah. Anyone with a gun makes me nervous to begin with.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@canusernamebemyusername I'm like that in airports and that's why I refuse to fly with my mum anymore. She always has something in her bag they have to search and throw.

I think she does it on purpose.
I think it’s more just a sign of outward racial tension in general. Things had seemed to have gotten better but the racists and divisionists (probably feeling marginalized) of each race have recently within the last few years gotten much louder and more active. So regular people that just want to get along don’t always know when we are dealing with someone like that. Makes us a little more anxious.

@DarkHeaven thank you for your honesty. I can understand that.
@Mellowgirl I like people too. I’m a white girl with a black girlfriend. I hate that things are like this. I want better.

There seems to be a need to be politically correct when I’m around he University if I’m the only Native. It’s kinda annoying. But I get it.

I'm nervous when I see a police car. I'm frightened to see my country accepting arms in our own hands and armed cops everywhere.
What’s the link between this and BLM? Maybe you go cross eyed when talking to strangers
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@SirenCalledLuce no I don't
Arorin · M
Nervous about what? Meet all kinds of people in the military.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
You expected something good to come from racial conflict?
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Mellowgirl I meant the byproduct, not your actions during.

Your Caucasian friends won’t be different. They may just ask your experiences to try to get a better understanding of the picture through your eyes.

The Caucasians you meet in public, in a business setting, have to be overly accommodating. They have to respect the power of social media sites where your claim of racism could destroy a company’s on-line image (if that was your intent, which I’m not suggesting).
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Adogslife they haven't because I'm not an advocate for all black people and if there have been racist scenarios they've been there.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Mellowgirl That sounds exactly like it should be 😊

It’s so good to hear.
4meAndyou · F
I think people pick up on hostility, if it is in your eyes. A nice big smile should be reassuring.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@4meAndyou they can't see my smile under a mask but I do smile. And as my mum says I speak with a song in my voice
I haven’t noticed that. Are you uncomfortable around Caucasians since the January 6 riot and the four years of Donald Trump ? 🤔
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard no, I'm generally uncomfortable around people because they get weird with me. But when I ask its because people say to me I'm so nice. Are people angry aliens or something?

So if nice makes people feel weird then that's what it is.
@Mellowgirl Possibly it’s that nice people seem uncommon nowadays in general. People seem much more guarded, for many reasons.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard fair enough...
I work on the side their on I see a fair amount of nice and mean
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I don’t understand
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@JoeyFoxx when I would visit hospitals or any establishment people would just deal with Me. But I find these days people seem to get nervous. Maybe I'm intimidating them but I'm not doing it intentionally. I actually talk to them like they're my friend I always have. Especially given the current situation(covid) I try to make sure they're OK.
Are you sure it is not just a general anxiety from Coming out of lockdown?
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@InOtterWords quite possibly. I don't really deal with very many white people in my area as the shopkeepers tend to be Indian or Iranian or Turkish. So u just noticed this especially with them as they're white.
As you know I don't have an issue with white people, but things have happened even when I'm just being normal and not talking about race..
@Mellowgirl I think people are finding it hard being normal around people in general
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@InOtterWords I hope so because this lady was a really nice lady.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
What does having to go to the chiropractor and a skin clinic appointment have to do with BLM?
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@iamonfire696 a white woman dealing with a black woman. That's what.
