How to become more manly? And not be scared on the inside all the time?

I don't think being more manly and not being scared on the inside are the same. If you lack emotions you are not human and if you conceal your emotions needlessly you are a coward, in my opinion.

My suggestion to you would be to identify what you are HONESTLY afraid of on the inside. Confront it, conquer it! 🙂 💪

@Dan193 Elaborate for me please?

Men and women both struggle with the same sorts of internal fears, and doubts. During our wars, the heroes we honor today were absolutely terrified inside. The only difference between those heroes and people like you and me, is that even though they were terrified, they forced themselves to do the things they had to do. Afterwards,they shook like leaves.

"Being manly" is, nowadays, something of a stereotype. Be, instead, the best HUMAN you can be, and get your head out of being so self-absorbed. If you concentrate on being the best HUMAN and making your world a better place for others, you will probably forget, eventually, the fears of today...because there are things SO much more important in this world.

@4meAndyou how could I battle them? I feel like no matter how much I try, I still feel that fear inside that is holding me back and doubt myself.
4meAndyou · F
@Dan193 I feel fear, also. That did not prevent me from driving my son to the doctor WHILE I was having an anxiety attack. I had a responsibility to him, and I could NOT pull the car over to the side of the road and hyperventilate. I just forced myself. And I discovered you can feel like you are going to pass out and throw up and simply by doing what you must do, you can walk through it and no one knows anything is even wrong with you. You can do something similar.

I doubt myself because I have been abused by so many people in my life, and I have never been Jennifer Lopez in the movie "Enough". I understand that I am weaker, and I understand that I can get hurt. I don't HAVE muscles or strength.

Yet, even though there were times when I could have been maimed or killed, I used my brain...it's my only asset. If you can think your way out of a problem, you don't have a problem.

A real man expresses his feelings/emotions open and freely. Try to do that, that's true masculinity.

@Dominus This.

@Dan193
won't that make u a loose cannon?
No. That makes you human. The phrase "loose cannon" typically applies to those who are enraged unnecessarily, those who violently lose their tempers in an unpredictable manner.

@Dan193 Actually, that kind of honesty can reveal your moral courage. Watch this movie for an illustration of what I mean:

Actors: Gregory Peck and Charleston Heston

I'm not very manly (in a physical and stereotypical sense), but I'm also not scared inside. I've become more enamored to the world, more assertive, and less likely to back down. It happened gradually though.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User can u give me some weight points that one could follow?
RedwoodBarman · 31-35, M
This is a more complicated question than you might think. To become more manly some might argue to get in a fight, have sex, work out, hunt/kill something, etc.

Nothing you find online is going to help in a an instant. There is no quick-n-easy solution to be a better person. My advice is to simply seek all forms of improvement. Eat healthier, get in shape and maintain, learn all you can, practice anything and everything that interests you, try everything just to see what it's like, try, fail, learn, and try again.

Perfection is an impossible goal no one can ever hope to achieve. Improvement is a never ending quest all can achieve.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@RedwoodBarman I'll try this. I'll screenshot it. Thanks.

Being scared never made any man less manly. Read this book:

The Gift of Fear
by Gavin DeBecker

Also, remember that fear does not make you a coward; it's how you relate to it and how you deal with it. Meet your fear with whatever courage you can summon up in the situation and remember you are capable of much more than you think you are.

@Dan193 It's okay to be scared. Anyone who's gonna tell you that being scared is not manly is lying their ass off.

We've all been scared at some point. I was scared when I was 21 after watching 3 people die in my family. I was scared when I had to resign my job because I had the uncertainty of getting a better one again. I was scared to get into a relationship. I was scared to get dumped and I was scared to be alone after being dumped.

My point is. Life is scary. People are scary. All of us are scared. We can choose to succumb to pain or choose to fight it and make it through the next day.

I struggle with depression, anxiety attacks, panic attacks and suicidal urges. Yet I'm here alive because I'm fighting it. I'm scared but I won't succumb to the fear and the pain.
