Do remember hearing about that . Was surprised and for me in New Zealand. We went hard and fast into lockdown.By shutting the borders right away.

I really cannot understand Johnson holding back until it gets worse. He seems to surround himself by people who are not going to disagree with him. My own son caught it via work in London. He's improving but was denied a test and simply told to isolate himself. The thing is - how can they claim they're basing their inaction on statistics when they obviously haven't them?

@alan20 agree with you about boris dont think he has got a clue, or knows what to do , he is just relying on it to slow down and do nothing untill it really hits us and then panic

The English seem to think they're being more clever about it than anyone. Guess time will tell. I don't think anyone has definitive answers, not even the experts, because they don't even have information they need, so it's a lot of guesswork right now :( Personally I dislike how the government has been banging on more about disruption and economic loss than potential loss of life:(

There are differing opinions and really the best strategy will be judged way down the line rather than today. Some countries have slowed the new infections rate but only by nature of lockdowns that cannot last forever. If they need to keep them in place until a vaccine is available to the majority then that could take over a year. If they release the lockdown there is every chance that the rate of infection just starts to climb again.
It's a tough call and the only two solutions are the virus going away for good or the majority establishing a level of immunity. The consensus seems to be that this virus isn't going away.
There are some misconceptions about the UK strategy being employed. The idea of herd immunity has been discussed but they have also suggested a phased and appropriately timed role out of measures to prevent compliance fatigue. If you lock people down for too long you risk non compliance and even civil unrest.

@SW-User That's what I had seen to. In regards to the latter part there, the civil unrest I feel like that may come down to the small amount paid out If you're on sick pay. People can't live on that, that's my main issue at the moment and the fact my work is still open is really only going to make it worse. So maybe this herd immunity really is their solution.
Certainly doesn't seem ideal being locked up for a year.
Better go to prison and ask how they cure boredom 😅

@LilGinge lmao, yeah. I think you're supposed to buy a small rubber ball and practice bouncing it off the walls like they do in movies in prison 🤔

Well I'd say more common sense needs to be used

I think they realised the public wasn't too happy with their "take one for the team" approach so they're changing their minds. Too little too late in terms of travel restrictions though.

They’ll soon see why it’s a bad idea not to take better precautions. Good luck🍀

Nah, we'll be fine, if nothing else our refusal to look facts in the face will see is through, and besides, with our heads buried this far in the sand no virus will get through.

Hoarding like Bubble Boy Jake Gyllenhaal? 😂
I guess it's "Keep Calm and Carry On 100 feet away" in the 🇬🇧 now. This has really thrown a monkeywrench into Boris' Brexit plans, eh?

I understood the government are changing their minds at the moment.
Failure to shut the tunnel and shut down mass transit will have ramifications

The Polish government did mention the UK approach: Don't do nothing, let people build resistance themselves. Sure, some of the elderly would be sacraficed.

They will regret it
