I think nationalism, socialism, communism are all dead a single country can't produce all of its needs alone and that's why they try to expand and attack other territories and because man has a conscious and a need to justify their actions they say we are the chosen people or we are entitled because of such and such. World Democracy is the only way.
You can ignore the top part. I think Kim Jong-un is going to be the next Stalin and try to expand his little Hermitage.
I tend to agree with your answer but then I think the reason for that is primarily the USA and their military strength, so that kinda begs the question whether the US could become that problem country - dependent on leadership!? @SW-User

It depends on military and technology strength. USA is dominating right now.
Followed by Russia and China. Mostly trio huge continent and with a crazy cult leader, this is still possible it just slightly different from politic views. Stalin was a communist and Hitler was a socialst.
ISIS had its own version, and other dictatorships are already here: the differences are only really in the dogma used to justify themselves, and in their methods and scale.
@Pureblossom Well, the People's Republic of China and the USSR each killed far more of their own people than the Nazi regime did, though more from sheer callousness, incompetence and neglect than deliberately; but the PRC is still a massive, expansionist, totalitarian state even if not as murderous as in the past.
ISIS had the same world-domination dream as both Hitler and Stalin, and if anything were even more gratuitously cruel.
Of the remaining dictatorships around the world the most authoritarian is probably North Korea; but it is a very small, very poor country with no obvious expansionist desires beyond wanting Korea unified under its own rule.
