As an avid Starbucks drinker, you do know they鈥檙e flavor straws right? For people who drink plain or black coffee. The straws are lined with sugar and various types of flavorings.

This is literally fake news 馃槀

@TonyPajamas they have in Florida as well ,its not fake news
Though the reasons for doing it vary ,our news said it had nothing to do with pollution ,I have already posted the reason they gave here in my comment

@rckt148 I鈥檓 in Arkansas and they give me plastic straws .-.

@TonyPajamas I said I am in Florida ,I have no clue about other states only mine
The local news here said it was just another way of stopping people who snort drugs from using straws as a way to introduce drugs into the system .
Lots of people I know of do prefer to snort narcotics as to take them by mouth .

I do know people that put the pill in the straw ,crush it with a lighter
and snort it right from the straw ,put the straw back in their pocket to reuse it .
If a police officer finds a straw in a car that has been shortened I know they test it to see if its been used with drugs .

Now days a Paraphernalia charge can be more severe than for the drugs its used to introduce them into the body with ,,Like papers and no tobacco ,or a pipe or stem with residue .
Here they are very serious when it comes to narcotics ,
I suffer from a bone disease and I suffer chronic pain ,I am on narcotics
But now days it takes an act of congress to get them ,and being caught with them and no script ,the penalty now is severe .

So when the news said the ending of the use of plastic straws over it ,seemed silly
since people have been using rolled up dollar bills long before I seen a straw used ,and I have been around snorters and bangers my whole life .

But I get when you have freezer trucks full of bodies you can't process fast enough from overdose ,if you can save one ,I get it
What I don't get ,is since they are so hard to get now ,how so many are still on the streets to begin with
My diagnosis is on my script ,and they are making them harder to fill
Fewer doctors will even prescribe them
and now I have to have a Narcam script on file just to fill them and my name is in a national data base .
I don't see straws cutting down on abuse ,but that is the reason the news here gave for ending the use of reusable straws ,to help curb them being used to snort narcotics
Starbucks is only one place here no longer using them
Now I hear the reason is over pollution ,I believe the reason the news gave
To end snorters being able to use them to snort pills ,
Like having papers and no rolling tobacco ,maybe soon just having a plastic straw that has been shortened will be a crime too ,if it has residue or not
have a good day
They have straws made out of a cookie too ,even in bars for mixed drinks
I am told they are made from something that has no taste and break down in a land fill ,,so I am sure some of it does also have to do with pollution
Now there is a war starting over cigarette butts too ,the number 1 thing as litter ,,I personally think we have waited to long to become eko friendly
There is no where on earth you can go now and not see the trash man has left behind ,I would say beer bottles and can's rank right up there
I know a man who makes a pretty good living picking up cans

Not true this was last June.

Seattle is believed to be the first major U.S. city to ban single-use plastic straws and utensils in food service, according to Seattle Public Utilities. The eco-conscious city has been an environmental leader in the U.S., working to aggressively curb the amount of trash that goes into landfills by requiring more options that can be recycled or compos
