Didnt Republicans used to be liberal and Democrats conservative?

Yes, in the 1800s or early 1900s, the belief structure of Republicans and Democrats were switched. For instance, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, but in today's terms, he would be considered a Democrat.

@WoodyAq Ehh, it all boils down to freedom vs security; equality vs established classes; individualism vs collectivism; tradition vs progression; fear of tyranny vs fear of....I forget which fear the left had. Maybe corporate tyranny.
