I had to move out of my apartment home of 28 years. I had to do it at the age of 71, sick with several serious illnesses, with no help of any kind.
Mentally, I found it exhausting to sort out a lifetime of stuff including stuff I inherited from my parents. The exhaustion came from two sources: First, the difficulty of deciding what to keep and what to give away or sell or throw away. Second, the emotional burden of having to remember a lot of things as I went through stuff, things I would have been much better off forgetting entirely.
