Does anyone use the word "shall" in spoken English?

Serenitree · F
I do. Always have. I never realized how regularly I use it until I was a caregiver to three small girls, and the oldest started saying shall we, instead of should we. It soon caught on with the younger girls, and one day, I heard their mom say it. I commented that I thought they'd picked it up from me, and she said, "Oh, you're the one who taught them that word! I thought they got it from a neighbour kid."

There are times when shall is really the only right word.

I do. But I'm weird.

Sometimes. Even though it’s an archaic word

@YoungPoet345 Is it? Archaic, I mean? Well, maybe,,but then again, so am I.

Haha, lol. All I mean is the word has been around for a long time. Since Elizabethan times. But the way it’s used has changed over time

@YoungPoet345 yes. You're right. I just looked it up and it has its special place and use in English. Apparently USA isn't one of the places. But, I think that was far too broad a statement. I mean, seriously, there are an awful lot of people in the USA and I doubt there is a national sanction against its use.

I still use it in both spoken and written English.
