I Will Be Remembering Someone On Memorial Day
My father was buried on Memorial Day . There was no other fitting day as he was a hero . In those days . they had wakes at homes and I remember my Dad being laid out in the dining room . People came for 2 days to offer condolences .
My Dad was a military veteran and my Mom was given the flag . We all knew my Dad was a hero and we all knew my Dad was a wonderful man .A gentleman came up to my Mother and I at the cemetery and had flowers in his hand . He said to us that he knew my Dad from youth and recently had run into my Father again . We didn't know my Father gave him opportunities and support to get his life back . He introduced us to his wife and 34 years later - he drops off flowers over Memorial Day at my fathers grave . He called me last week and as we talked he reminded me that my Father was a wonderful man .
