I Love Being a Father

In case a young dad happens to read this.

Being a man does not involve conquest, achievement, success, riches or fame.

All of those may come to you.

Whether you have children or not, see yourself from a perspective of being followed and admired; undoubtedly you are.

Love unconditionally; focus on her and not on you.
Take pride in who you help, not how much you “don’t care”
Spend your energy lifting someone, anyone up; not tearing yourself down.
It’s not how many women have a crush on you; it’s how many times you make the one woman smile.

If you are a dad; don’t be perfect, be present.
Expect your child to be a challenge and love them regardless.
Being hurt will lead you to hurt them, probably without even realizing it.
If you must, buy them the best toys, but no matter what you buy, big or little, get down on the floor and play with them.

Children are watching, just as you watched.
Their future is being shaped just like yours was.
Moms are incredibly capable without you, so don’t be foolish enough to disappear.

My dad chose to disappear and I’m ok ( thank you mom), but I chose to live life with 4 children who are now my four best friends.

My dad chose an easier path, but being a man should be hard work. I chose a more difficult path, but the view is indescribably beautiful.
