I Am Learning Spanish

One problem with learning two languages at once (so I've postponed the German, though I do speak it a little) is I'm thinking in German sometimes when I'm studying Spanish.

I thought I could brush up on the German as I've forgotten a lot since I've not used it in decades, but it's become confusing as Spanish is a new lanuage for me, and I need to concentrate on that.

Initially, I planned on three languages at once, but I'm going overboard. It's not like I'm a linguistic genius, and can compartmentalize all three. I can't. They get mixed up in my brain, so I'll focus on one at a time.

I asumme its much more difficult since they are completely different things... maybe earning languages with same roots may help, like Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese all having origins in latin

German is very similar to English, but I'm also finding similarities in Spanish, although I think many words from other languages have crossed over to English, which makes it a bit easier to recognize some.

I'm enjoying the process, but I do wonder what genius developed languages with gender. Couldn't they make it simple like English. 🙂 We only have one way to say "The." 😉
