I Am a Believer In Education
Crossword puzzles....see them in newspapers daily. I think that they are a valuable tool and a worthwhile one to help a teacher gauge the knowledge of their students. If I were a teacher and had say, a freshman class of high school students, I'd give each one a crossword puzzle to do, and at the end of the class I'd take them back, then later review them, and hopefully get an idea of what my students know, and perhaps how their abilities are in determining certain aspects of the crossword. Crosswords are amazing because they encompass anything from Latin to math, to history, to geography, to health, to the arts, and very much more. Yes, they're brain teasers, but IMO that's how we awaken young people to education; we make them face a situation, not necessarily knowing everything to do with it (filling in the answers) (crossword puzzle), but hopefully inspiring them to seek and find the answer(s)[image deleted] they were not able to get, and have them interact with their teacher who could explain the areas that might have been not answered. Just this old man's opinion
