Is Believing in God Like Believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster? [Spirituality & Religion]

Never. God is real of which I am certain for He lives in my heart as well as the hearts of millions upon millions in the world today.

All other so called, 'gods', flying spaghetti monster included, are imaginary by skeptics who don't believe in them in the first place.

I'd rather be a Pastafarian than a Christian anyday.

God be with you, Daisy, Sharon is not interested in knowing the Truth. She's just on here acting like a fool trying to discredit us.

@Butterflykisses24
.There are eye witness accounts of dead people,brought back to life.
No, there are accounts of people coming out of deep comas claiming to have seen "the afterlife". Interestingly, these accounts all seem to be culturally specific - that is, people see "the afterlife" their culture or religion. Odinists see Odin and Valhalla or Freyja and Fólkvangr for example.

The important thing to remember is that these people are not really dead. That's why they're called "NEAR death experiences" - note the word "NEAR", I can't emphasize it enough. "Brought back to life" is an unscientific, inaccurate, journalists' term to describe such a "NEAR death experience".

LOL! You that very well yourself, you don't need anyone's help.
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
@Sharon I'm sorry you must have wrong information. I googled dead people see hell.There are accounts.
Sharon · F
@Butterflykisses24 On the contrary, it is you who has incorrect information.

No doubt there are some people with a christian background who believe they see Hell (or heaven) when they have a NEAR death experience. Note well the word "near", it means they were close to death but not actually dead. Quite simply, they see what they expect to see.

There are also reports from people of other religions who believe they see the afterlife as taught be their religious upbringing when they have a near death experience. Their testimonies are no less valid than those of christians. Would you accept that proves their afterlife is a real place too?

Considerable research has been carried out into the phenomenon. Google "near death experience psychology" (without the quotes) to find some scholarly articles such as https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-50601-6 for example. HTH.

@GodSpeed63 I did, I told @Butterflykisses24 how to find academic papers (some peer reviewed) on the subject and even gave her a direct link to one such. Once you've read it you can give us your reasoned critique of it.

You missed the mark by a mile, Sharon, try again.

@GodSpeed63
You missed the mark by a mile,
LOL! You've missed it by a parsec.

How are you getting on with preparing your considered rebuttal of the study I gave @Butterflykisses24 a link to? I hope that study isn't too highbrow for you, I can try to find something less challenging for you if need be.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Sharon He's gonna need pictures hun! 🤷‍♀️
Sharon · F
@Harriet03 That study uses a lot of polysyllabic words that he's not likely to find in a junior dictionary so I expect you're right.
