Were you an atheist who found faith? [Spirituality & Religion]

How did you find God again?
SW-User
I'm not an atheist and neither a religious person. I found faith in God but I still doubt about Him and still not ready to become a part of that faith.
SW-User
@LadyGrace I didn't say that I'm a part of Him. I only believe in him, but not a part of him. That is why I say in my first comment is that "I found faith in God but I still doubt about Him and still not ready to become a part of that faith."
@SW-User Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
Carazaa · F
@SW-User OK🤗
@deadgerbil Jesus isn't interested in what church, denomination, or as people say, what "religion" one belongs to. Religion is nothing. It is only man-made philosophy. Jesus did not die for religion. He died for each individual, so we could have a personal relationship with Him. When one accepts Jesus as their personal savior, they are only called a Christian because that means they are a follower of Christ, not a religion. Religion did not die on the cross for our sins. Jesus did. That's why it is called a personal relationship and He is our personal Savior.

Which to choose? That's up to you, but Jesus is the only one who has access to God in heaven, who forgives our sins. Jesus is our only Mediator between God and man, so we can have eternal life in heaven. This is something that we must not leave to chance. Where we shall spend eternity, is a choice we must make, or we remain unsaved and unforgiven for our sins. Therefore, this is the most important decision we shall ever make in our entire life, because that choice determines where we'll spend eternity. No one has to go to hell. All it takes is your decision to turn away from a life of sin, invite Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior, and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Eternity is a lot longer, obviously, than the very short time we spend on earth. Your soul is at stake, so this is not something you leave to chance.
I did. Very long and personal story. One few people would believe so I rarely discuss it.
@PrivateHell That would make a great movie. What a great testimony to tell others about. If they don't believe it, then that's on them. Not everyone is going to believe, as we know. But after all he has done for me, I believe it is important to share.
@Axeroberts I think Jesus would say it doesn't matter if they understand, agree or not, but He calls us to share our story so others may learn of him and know of him.

@LadyGrace I'm speaking of God, our Creator. My experience is not of a religious nature but a spiritual one
What about you? Do you have a story you'd like to share? Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins, resurrected from the dead, and lives today?
SW-User
@LadyGrace I do not LadyGrace.
I grew up in a church. I left at 17...wrestled with things for a few years, while in college.

Church is a great scam, if you have a lot of people kicking in that 10% tithe...
😂

@Texasgurl In the last days many hearts will grow cold, and many will fall asleep from the faith Jesus said.
Now we are talking again?
🤣@Carazaa
I read the bible and encountered holy people-that converted me to atheism.
@Carazaa You are wrong and judgmental.
Carazaa · F
@wilderflower

I know God. And I care about you!

He says "They do not believe because of their sins"!
@Carazaa You may know god but you don’t know me because you made an irrational and judgmental statement.

My mom and dad were both raised Catholic. My mom left the faith in her early adult years but relects on Asian philosophy such as the Taos. My dad is rather private abou his personal life but claims he still has a belief system.

They raised my sister and I believe what we find that fits our life and supported I. My sister claims to be an atheist but mostly because she can’t muster a deep though albeit spiritual or logical.

As a kid I never thought about it. Around 18 I tried Christianity for about 5 years but I could never get into it and dismissed it.

Today I reflect off of the verses from the Poetic and Prose Edda, the Havamál, the Voluspa, the 9 Noble virtues, etc

I was agnostic but now believe

@Success witty
I didn't find god or religion I found spirituality. In the west in particular the two are often consider synonyms.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow They are not the same thing as following Jesus as your Savior.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Not yet

And where would I even begin? Which god do I subscribe to? Eastern religions? Abrahamic religions?

And then which denomination?
Carazaa · F
We were all atheists before we were Christians. I know I was when I was 6 yrs old I thought the Bible was just made up!
SW-User
And then lost it again.
SW-User
@SW-User Sounds like there may be a part of you that wants to believe
SW-User
@SW-User A kernel sized part, like a mustard seed ....:)
@SW-User How do you lose salvation again? You did nothing to earn it. God never leaves us. It is we who leave him. All it takes is a prayer to have fellowship with Him again. Spiritually speaking, once one is born-again, there is no such thing as being UNborn again.
No. I’m still very much an atheist.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
no I was born christian
StarlessSky · 36-40, F
It was quite the opposite for me actually
Carazaa · F
@StarlessSky that is exactly what Jesus said in Mathew 24 would happen in the last days people would fall away from faith because of Satans deception of false religions 🤗
StarlessSky · 36-40, F
@Carazaa
Lucky for me, I don’t believe any of that.
Carazaa · F
@StarlessSky Sounds like Satans deceptions worked on you please be careful what kind of stuff you believe🤗

No, the reverse. I was once quite pious, to the point that I seriously considered becoming a postulant.
