If you don't believe in God, can you give a logical reason as to why? [Spirituality & Religion]

CountScrofula · 41-45, M
There's no evidence God exists.

There is lot of evidence that God is a creation of man.

I think that about sums it.

How long ago was he alive?

@SW-User Religious beliefs and practices change in the same way cultural practices change. If religion was based on real Truths, certain aspects would stay the same. Instead they change hugely as people move around and time passes.

Holy books aren't set in stone, but have changed according to the politics of day. Every society has had religious beliefs, yet they all believe the next one over is wrong.

Millions of people believed in Zeus as passionately as anyone today believes in the Christian God. The only reason we call what they believe myth is popularity. What separates God from Zeus?

Your beliefs don't harm anyone and I respect them and you. If you look at them in the context of human history they're defined by human action and politics, just like my atheism.

@CountScrofula there is one religion which hasn't changed :p
And is considered outdated, even though the book remains in pristine condition for over 1,500 years, so that is a special case that condradicts your claims of religion changing over time.

Second, proving and disproving God is not related to the human being at all. It is situated in the foundation of one's mental costruction of the concept of God, meaning that if I believe in God, you cannot disprove God. I will find everything to be a creation and relating to a designer. However, if I disbelieve in God, the I cannot be swayed as well in that I cannoy disprove God, but I am arguing that there is no compelling reason to believe in God. I mean, if you cannot prove a God exists, what kinda of logic is it that you can claim you can disprove God at the same time? 😂

Picture this:

A lot of religions changed. Check these theoretical and hypothetically constructed views from those that believe in God and those that don't.

1. God exists. God spoke to the human being. People took the message and Word of God and corrupted it because popularity demanded so.

2. God does not exist. People constructed religion and the concept of God. People changed their religions in relation to popularity and ine.

BOTH of these views are correct based on the foundation. If God REALLY EXISTS, and He spoke to the people and taught what is right and wrong, then people literally altered and corrupted the message of God and that explains the change in religion. However, if God DOESN'T EXIST, then people made and changed the message just because they felt like it and knew it was not real.

Just understand that human beings do not determine the existence of God just because religion changes :p
That's a flawed logic I've seen too many times over. If you wanna talk about God, then talk about Him. Not what peeps do breh XD

First, my logical answer.
I don't believe in God because the concept of an all-powerful all-knowing sentient presence that is everywhere at once seems to violate every principle of common sense and understanding of the natural world that I can fathom. There has been a complete lack of evidence and much attempt to fabricate evidence which isn't necessary if there were a God.

And now my silly answer.
Because anyone who dresses fancy to worship an old White guy with a beard who tells geriatric Arabs to put animals on a fucking boat can't be too goddamn smart.

Why should I believe in a god conceived by someone in the past, just because he came a 1000 years before, when I too have the right to create my own..

Old gods are outdated.
FetishFox · 26-30, F
Can you give a logical reason as to why you do?
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@SW-User You have faith but don't dispute scientific findings - that makes perfect sense to me. If all religious people took that view most of these 'debates' wouldn't exist, I think. 🙂
SW-User
@fazer1k just know that most religious people are not Christian XD
Angeleyez · 51-55, F
@SW-User I’m Christian I have faith but also see and except scientific things. science and God don’t compete only the ppl on either side fight the two. Science is logical, faith isn’t. I have faith in God’s existence and don’t need any proof for that faith to be real to me. I also see the value in science and the advancement it has given us as human beings. I have no concrete proof of God’s existence, but there isn’t any to disprove it either. I don’t harbor hate or resentment to anyone that disagrees with my faith, either by practicing different faiths or simply don’t believe. My faith is mine unique unto me as someone else’s faith is to them. My relationship with God is just that my relationship if someone else chooses to have a relationship with him. Then that is theirs. 🤗🤗 @fazer1k

Why I don’t believe in god is because there are to many religions, everyone thinks they are right and if you don’t believe what they believe you will go to hell. Don’t even get me started on how many different types of Christians there are. I hated going to a different church and telling them what i learned from my old church and them telling me that’s wrong or my last church lied to me, because at each church “they are always right”.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
There is not the remotest shred of evidence suggesting deities exist.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
You can apply that to anything. Do you believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn? How about the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Or Santa Claus?

There is no evidence to support the hypothesis that "god" is real, nor is there any reason to hypothesize one.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@suzie1960 It’s called Russell’s Teapot.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@BlueMetalChick Yes, that was Bertrand Russell's example.

I could, but to do so i'd first need to see a panel of religious fellows of various creeds put together a video where the parties within unanimously agree to a definition of "god" and what "god" does so i could cry laughing.
i don't believe in god as an entity, i think its just a human way to comprehend creation as we only know things through a personification and naturally we want to relate to what it is we're believing in. That's been my main reason.
I believe in what is, and what is is already magical enough if you look outside of our world. I just think it limiting to think out of all the infinite possibilities that "well it MUST be human like".
I believe in an intelligent energy that permeates everything in existence, and that alone is comforting enough for me, if love exists then it comes at least partly due to this.
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
Nothing in this world has ever proven or shown to me a God exists .... all that guff in the book supposedly written by the god is made up rubbish to indoctrinate and control people
SW-User
such things are unknowable; however it's not necessary to invoke any gods to get the universe to where it is today.
all i can say people cant really prove there is or isnt one. all of our conjecture of the universe is based on us being on this planet and speculating how things happen and the function of everything. science is always changing always trying to come up with new theories to try to explain everything. people say god is man made but so are the theories we base things on. which the big bang model even some scientist dont believe in and has a lot of issues. then there are those who believe the universe always existed and then there are those who believe we are a part of a multiverse. people will believe and put their faith in what ever they feel is right to them.
SW-User
The most logical is you cannot see this god, that is logical.
I believe in a higher power, because I believe I have been influenced by this power.
That may not be logical, perhaps not everything is?
Perhaps that is okay?
I have no logical understanding of why I can write, sing, or why my personality is the way it is? It doesn't help me to survive, but it does bring me some moments of joy.
SW-User
I believe in a higher power. Conventional religion and it's "God" I have issues with because it isn't what is dictated..where is mercy and those angels for some of us who were destroyed as babies and children? Is that mercy only for the chosen?
SW-User
@SW-User What is different between what is "dictated" and what it is? >.>
where is mercy and those angels for some of us who were destroyed as babies and children? Is that mercy only for the chosen?
Mercy is everywhere in my eyes. You will be able to see what you want to see
The world isn't perfect and if we aren't ascribed a hardship as a test, often times, we are subject to actions of others. I don't know who any chosen could be

No proof. I need proof.

@Emosaur good point 🤔
So, if that God were to fix everything, then how would you imagine it to happen in a realistic sense?
