Why do atheists get mad when people tell them or talk about God ? [Spirituality & Religion]

If you do not believe then that is your business. I will not try to change your own personal beliefs in any way, shape or form. We have people who are believers, and we have people who are not. I am not in the business of patronising anybody for their beliefs or ideology. But if you challenge me, then I will respond as I see fit. That is the difference between trying to teach people, and teaching people when they ask a question.
I often wonder though why some atheists get mad when people tell them or talk about God. Its like they get so offensive, or agitated.
Its like when Democrats and Republicans argue about who is right or wrong.
What do you think SW. ☺
I’ve always experienced it the other way around. There’s many people who speak about god openly and that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean people are obligated to listen. I’ve experienced more aggression from people who believe versus those who don’t. They automatically assume everyone believes in god, they want you to respect their beliefs but them pushing, assuming, or bombarding their belief on others is that really respect towards these individuals they’re speaking to? There’s so many people who’ll just randomly talk to me about god whether I’m at the grocery store waiting in line or just in the parking lot minding my own business. This lady came up to my friend and I while we were talking in the parking lot and just went on about how my friend should pray for her baby and how she can talk about Jesus to her baby even while she’s pregnant with him (because she was pregnant at the time) and although my friend is a Christian but how does she know she’s a Christian ? What if she has a completely different belief or doesn’t believe in anything at all? Seems like you guys are always wanting people to respect your beliefs, but are you respecting other’s ? Just because someone doesn’t want to hear about it doesn’t mean they’re being disrespectful towards it.

@SW-User I agree. But to debate only means you are open minded to having a better insight to things that are misunderstood or a mystery to you.

I mean, why talk about stuff you don't have in common?
When a system of beliefs insists on teaching new generations that science is of the devil, that the earth is six thousand years old, that questions the validity of planets and orbits and natural selection and mathematics, that system not only teaches a wrong view of reality, but it also keeps society as a whole backwards and uneducated. That system deserves nothing but ridicule.

@Userrname When people say this they mean some of the science is orchestrated to put people in fear or create propaganda that misleads them. And no I do not believe that dinosaurs were real either. See.
@Zonuss There you go. And you, and people who think like you do should be the ones entrusted with the education of a nation? No thanks.

How do u tell someone to talk about God?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@SW-User What.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
@Zonuss when you mention God to someone, is it "let's talk about This situation" Or is it all Fire and Brimstone "You're going to Hell if you don't....."
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@RoxClymer Not everyone talks about the Bible in the same manner.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
I was taught to never talk about 2 things in public, politics and religion, because A person may be intelligent but People are dumb, stupid and panicy, any social site is a crowd
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@RoxClymer It depends on what you consider to be intelligent. Please explain this more.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
intelligent, rational, doesn't over-react, thinks about and examines the evidence presented in the discussion.

I just get annoyed when christians to force their beliefs onto me and others like me. If they kept their religion to their own kind it would be OK but they don't. I specify christian because they're by far the worst offenders. I've never been harassed by members of other religions, only by christians.

I don’t care...I will gladly engage in a debate...
All I ask for is proof outside of faith...
Then it ends.

I noticed that Atheists talk about religion and God more than actually religious people and they like to heavily generalize us, funny. I'm like from what you said in your post I won't force it on other but the atheists seem to force their beliefs on us and I also want to mention that they are very rude. I blocked a girl on here that went by AnonymousJSS or something like that and she got 70 hearts for saying something about how religious people should go to hell. I cannot remember what it was but it was extremely disrespectful.

@Chickie Well there must be a deeper issue going on there. This can be a sensitive subject for many.
