Why do Christians worry about sinning if they believe that Jesus died for their sins? [Spirituality & Religion]

This is actually a very good question and one that isn't taken seriously enough.

Past tense? Also because the theory is that he died so that you get a second chance not a free pass. The way it was in the old testament you sinned you were damned no matter what next. The Jesus way being that you get to do a big overhaul repent and not go to hell. People think it's a cop out that you could just go " sorry jesus" on your deathbed and loophole it , but it doesn't work like that you're suposed to take J to your heart (church slang for accepting his moral code and applying it to yourself) ehich you can't really do at will on a dime you can fake it but faking it doesn't cut it dealing with omniscient entities.

Yep. That's the point he does he doesnt send you to hell you're choosing it. You really have your whole life to make a change but a true change. Think of it in energy terms you're charging yourself with the positive energy or negative energy of how you percieve your actions. You might do positive actions amd still be sins because you do them with a selfish intent they mjght look good to others but you know, you know why and what you've done and that's what counts. You could do things that other consider sins but if in your heart they are not then they most likely won't damn you. The loophole would be crazy people who actually believe stabbing you in the face is a gpod thing cause you are an alien lord from planet x... Well crazy people are loopholed in most religions since their perception is not clean you can't accuse them of using free will wrongly amd the whole basis of heaven vs hell is free will and consequences to exercising your free will.

Because sinning does not come without a punishment. That is why there is repentance. Where you ask for forgiveness and make promises not to do that sin again. It has to be done sincerely.

@Emosaur Depends on what you know, did you reject his Gospel, do you deny the Christ? God has said he will be just. Our hearts will tell him and he will judge from there. The way we live our life and how we treat others will be a big part of our judgement day. I can't imagine that he will be as interested in what we have done for ourselves as he will be what we have done for others.

Because sins are the most delicious way of taking your name off the "To Heaven" list.
Excellent question.

Most people follow the teachings of Jesus through the church. The church ministers it's teachings with a control device of rewards and punishments - if you follow the doctrine, you'll go to heaven, if not, you'll burn in hell for an eternity.

@PhoenixPhail wow what a load of bull shit, I know my Bible and this man denied all that it stands For!
@schizosaint I'm glad your teaching works for you. I have no problem with that. What this guy says works for me.

Because guess what, we don't want to sin.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Emosaur He died as a sacrifice in order for God to be able to forgive us for our sins. Jesus death did not automatically forgive all sins and give everyone a golden ticket to paradise. That's not how it works. As it says in the bible, the road to life is narrow, but wide is the road to death. Taking God's forgiveness for granted will not prove to be wise.

@Emosaur It sure is.
It's like a marriage. If you truly love your husband you do what pleases him, and you stay true. You 'want' to please him. It's not an obligation, but a 'passionate' desire.

Because pat of forgiveness is the expectation of repentance and self-improvement.
