Is it ok for a man to be overly emotional

To begin, my entire life until 4th year university I showed almost 0 emotion ever. A few years ago my mo passed away and now I find myself to be stupidly emotional as in I can cry over the simplest videos. I’m aware some is dad instinct even though I don’t have a kid but especially when I see a dad really good with a kid especially a daughter my eyes well up and I don’t understand why because I never wanted kids just because I think I would be a bad father. Something just seemed to change though after me mom passed away where there is isn’t a single animal rescue video I can watch without tears in my eyes or stuff like kids accepting adoption papers from fathers. Maybe it’s a natural father instinct which scares me but I just don’t get it
Like seeing a little girl crying that she’s been adopted by the father or seeing a broken down dog finally seeing love breaks me down but it never did before my mom passed so I don’t know If it’s that or dad instincts because for whatever reason I’m so good with kids in hockey and I don’t know why but watching any video of a dad being really good with his kid makes me emotional even though I never planned on kids
Maybe this is just a rant and less of a question but since covid restricts me I’m open to hear thoughts...

Nope ...not a useless rant .

It all makes sense ....lamenting the affection and love that you didn't see growing up .

I came from a family tjat was similar. Everyone used to comment how mature I was for my age.

Hit 21....and on3 day I broke....couldnt control my feelings.
Took me a few years to learn to do it .

Feelings need to be felt - the good, the bad . .and all the ones in between.

You're naturally doing wjat you're meant to do - feel.

It's just you have a bit of a back log to go thru 😁
