I Think Karl Marx Had Some Good Points

I agree we need to rethink the divisions of labour and capital, and the investments workers have in the work place. I believe the systems we use generally promote a sense of injustice, greed and resentments which cause failure in potential.

The duties of capital and labour need to be redefined.

I have found, in my decades of work experience, that Capitalism only causes problems for the intellectually and morally weak.

For the majority of persons with whom I've worked, work is a means to demonstrate, and be rewarded for, their highest moral value.

If one gives their best, everyone benefits.

@bikegenius: That can be absolutely true. But I've probably seen more go the other way. When people start creating their own hurdles to overcome it can be a downward spiral. But as a white, American male I'm pretty aware of the advantages I have that other don't. That inherent inequity exists. People like Marx wanted to change that. Clearly didn't work out too well.

@Ynotisay: The inherent inequity can't change. Nor should it. The inequality is one great source of motivation.

I've seen examples of societies where all members are equal. The inhabitants just swim around their goldfish bowl.

@bikegenius: I see it a little differently. But I've also never seen country where "all members" are equal. Not sure where that is. But when 1% of Americans own the same amount of wealth as the other 99% combined; I think that's something that should change. Not too on board with people being oppressed by governments, gangs or terrorists either. There are some inequities that don't include the opportunity for the kind of motivation I think you're talking about.
Maybe that's why I have few problems with very, very poor, oppressed people illegally entering countries. I'd say those folks are the epitome of "motivation."

His critical analysis is really still beyond dispute. His solution, well, the kindest thing to say is, it didnt work. But the problems he identified still remain.
