I Love Old Porsches

I sold my 1987 911 Carrera Coupe a few months ago... I wish that I could have kept it and I think of driving it almost every day. Many great memories...

Last fall I think the chain tensioner gave up and I may have slipped a gear on my timing chain on my 82 911SC Targa. Running very rough. Looks like I have a project ahead of me ... I miss driving it and don't want to get rid of it. Also these older Porsches seem to have rocketed in value lately. I've had it for 20 years.

@afunguy2000 I don't believe that it is too difficult of a project to add a Carrera chain tensioner upgrade.

Yes... the values have gone crazy! I sold mine for $32,500, but it is worth nearly $40K now.

Care to share a pic of your SC?

Please what's your most exciting memory that is connected with that nice car?

@helenS Oh my, so many fun times. Two memories pop to mind. 1) Driving the Aufderheide Scenic Highway in the Oregon Cascade Mountains... 80 miles of unpopulated twisty roads through the mountains, and 2) Driving through the Rocky Mountains... the steep climbs with sweeping turns are really fun.

Isn`t it amazing how we become attached to an inanimate object. :(

@Degbeme It's not so much the object, as the experience. As an object, a Porsche 911 is just another car... transportation. But as an experience, it's more than amazing. The sound of the engine is an addiction that many carry for their entire life. The quick throttle response, precise shifter, light steering, amazing brakes... glued to the road through the tightest of corners... it cries out to be driven fast, and only starts to really come alive over 80 mph. Those memories... the sights, the sounds, the feelings... are what a Porsche owner wants to experience over and over and over. But for me, that will not be an option. I sold the Porsche because I could no longer drive it due to increasing motor neuron disease in my legs. The memories are what I have left.
