I Am Content

This is where I am in life. I was talking to a friend and realized that everything I have or done has been solely by myself with absolutely no support. I put myself through school, I almost own my little house, I have set myself up for a nice retirement and it was not due to an inheritance, a divorce settlement, nothing but hard work.

My retirement is within 5 years. I am definitely on the down hill as far as years left to work. Pretty soon I will have the money and time to fully live life. I am happy

What about sprituality did you prepare for your next life? Life isnt all about working its about worshipping the lord and helping the poor thats what we were made to do

@Collegegirl23: God sounds very "down with the kids" these days. Or is he just saving characters?

That is amazing...to be truly happy with where you are in life is enviable.

I came to terms with what I didn't have (a spouse) and focused on how blessed I was. thank you!

The hard work helps you value what matters. Were it given to you or finagled through other means, you would not have the core values to go with it. Hard work and appreciation. Your Christmas list is not material things but treasures that can't be bought.

so well said my sweet friend. it was 100% totally thru my effort. sometimes i wish life had been easier but i accept what i have!

You only really know how important it is when you are no longer content

You are in a good spot. Sometimes people are too busy looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and forget to enjoy the rainbow.

EXACTLY!!

I recommend retirement as soon as practical. I have seen too many that worked longer in order to collect more only to have their remaining years cut short. Enjoy the fruits of your labor as soon as you can.
akindheart · 61-69, F
I so agreee Jim. life is too short to wait until i am 70.
