I Want to Share 100 Songs I Love

98. Careful With That Axe Eugene, this is ultimately my favorite from Pink Floyd, here are two versions, the first from Ummagumma is the better, more spacey and reflective, it documents it's time better, and then the studio recording which is just perfect as it is, clean and neat ....:)

I remember buying Ummagumma on vinyl when it was first released. I was in my late teens and had my record player (As they were called back in the 1960's) in my bedroom. When I got home I put the 'Live' album on and went to the bathroom to get ready for going out.

I could hear the music. Not that clearly but well enough to be enjoying it.

Careful With That Axe Eugene came on. The music was initially so quiet that I could barely hear it. Then Roger Waters came out with the very first scream and I nearly shit myself!

I'll never forget that. 😂
@SW-User The live album from Ummagumma is one of my all time favorites. I've literally lost count of the number of times I've played it. I would put the vinyl version on repeat play and listen for hours, occasionally turning the disc over so I heard both sides. I eventually wore out the first copy and had to purchase another! I now have it on CD and on my iPod, and there's barely a week goes by when I don't listen to it at least once.

Like you rightly said, the 'Live' version is way better. I'd define the entire live album as 'Atmospheric', because it makes it almost like you're there.

@AndTheGodsMadeLove That Live album kicked ass!!! But the studio side of it wasn't too shabby either, this is an example ...:)

@SW-User Purely for it's novelty value, I like "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict". Now that's what I call one hell of a track title. 😎
