Will tactical voting have a big effect on the UK General Election?

It has been a big talking point in the lead up. In England they're talking about voting for whoever has the best chance of beating the Tory candidate in each constituency, be they Labour, lib dem or something else. In Scotland the constitutional question is resulting in tactical voting with unionists voting for the Tories and on the nationalist side the Greens so far won't stand for 6 Scottish seats in order to improve the SNP's chances.

It might in Scotland, there's nothing that can stop a huge Tory majority overall though.

Also that's not the only way it could have an effect.

@thatscottishguy: I'm struggling to get my head round Scottish Labour supporters switching to Conservative. I think it shows Labour is completely finished in Scotland. It is essentially a second independence referendum in Scotland and I don't think anyone should take too much notice of the local election results.

You're not the only one. A pro-union vote for Labour or the lib dems would annoy me but I could understand it. The people who used to vote Labour and called the SNP "Tartan Tories" and are now voting for the Tories disgust me. Every Scottish Labour campaign leaflet and tweets I've seen have talked about beating the SNP. Nothing against the Tories and some Labour people have advocated voting Tory to keep out the SNP. They are a joke but I'm sure when they fail massively the media will somehow blame Corbyn. While licking Ruth's arse of course.

In Scotland not much at all because therdia are exaggerating the unionist swing. Tories are a distant second and there are Labour voters who would never vote Tory. One or two more seats is the max for them.

In England it will have some effect but probably not enough to keep the Tories out.

@thatscottishguy: 😜
Are the torys making the most sense?.. Seems like they fear they will do well?

@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: The Tories never make the most sense but they will do well.

What happened to the times when people simply voted their preferred option and the most voted one won? Democracy is getting more farcical every day

@Cierzo: You are not wrong but our votinfv system is not proportional like Spain. In most constituencies there are only two parties with any possibility of winning. The current system is wrong but is unlikely to change while it suits the party on power.

Not enough people care for it to make any difference
