George W. Bush Warns Republicans 'Won't Win Anything' If They Stand For 'White Anglo-Saxon Protestantism'
Former President George W. Bush suggested the Republican Party needed to reach out to a more diverse coalition of voters if it wanted to come back into power.

'If you Republican Party stands for exclusivity - you know, it used to be country clubs, now evidently it's white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism - then it's not going to win anything,' Bush said in an interview with The Dispatch podcast last week.

Bush was asked about a recent initiative from far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to form a House 'America First' caucus that's in favor of 'Anglo-Saxon political traditions,' with respect to immigration.

Asked if the GOP followed that path for the next three to five years if Bush would still be a member of the party.

'No I'd say there's not going to be a party,' Bush replied. 'You know, to me that basically says that we want to be extinct.'
@MarmeeMarch
Biden barely got elected by those swing states.
Trump barely won those swing states in 2016.

@MarmeeMarch I encourage the GOP to embrace White Protestant nationalism. We already saw what happened when they tried appealing to racist white people. Now let's see what happens when, in addition to shutting out non-whites, they also shut out white Catholics.

@beckyromero I won't be the least bit surprised if the Right starts bringing up Biden's religion as a tool to rally against him.

@MarmeeMarch True. The right-wingers just do enough hateful stuff to make Jesus want to disown them.
@PrincessAwesome They have already.

@MarmeeMarch Putting immigrant children in cages and spraying them with toxic cleaners while sending their parents back to Mexico to ensure they will never be reunited leaps to mind.

Ladies and gentlemen, observe the wild Trumpling in its native environment. This one, whom we'll call @MarmeeMarch, is engaging in its defensive cry. This cry is intended to ward off perceived attacks when the Trumpling has no means of defending itself. It sounds a bit like, "Whatabout! Whatabout!"
