Should use of certain racist slurs be made illegal?

Update: I am pleased to see that most of the people who have responded understand that free speech must, by definition, include offensive speech. Keeping it legal to say certain words is by no means saying that you advocate their use. Banning certain parts of speech is a slippery slope. Today, we are discussing whether the N-word should be legal. By next year, we could be discussing whether the word stupid should be outlawed.
