Do you think the Republican party should reform?

Republicans could expel any member who has acted in an anti-democratic way or who acts against the law or the constitution.

They could demand that potential new members sit a test on attitudes to democracy, and pass through a one year probationary period while other members get to know them.

They could demand an oath of fealty to the constitution of the US.

Do you think any of these measures would help the party recover from its current crisis?

If so, which ones and how?

If not, which ones and why not?

Why not do it for all politicians
@MarineBob Yes, I agree that should be required for all politicians. It already is in many countries.

But I was talking about all members of the party, no just elected representatives.
It would be possible to make it a requirement for all parties.
However, the nature of Democratic values includes an automatic priority for democracy.
Recently, it has become evident that a significant proportion of Republicans are not willing to believe accept the validity of the electoral processes and results.

@hartfire and l last time the dems cried Russian interference......works both ways
@MarineBob
It was discovered that the Russians had paid for the opening of fake Facebook accounts to create support for Trump's campaign. This, of course, was a means of trying to influence swinging voters. There is no means of discovering whether it had any effect.
The results of the first impeachment were equivocal partly because some evidence was withheld, and partly because with the numbers in the senate there was never any chance it would succeed. So it was a waste of money and time.

It is the proper job of opposition in government to question the incumbent. It's a means of ensuring critical thinking and providing one of the checks and balances.

However, the Democrats used constitutional and legal means.

The issue here is that Trump used lies to goad extremists to
invade the capitol and attempt to prevent the process of formal recognition of the thrice checked and validated results of the election. He incited mob violence and an insurrection. This is against the constitution and several other laws.

@hartfire The vast majority of members of the press are registered Democrats. Leadership and key personalities for most of the information and entertainment networks routinely serve within Democrat administrations.

Should they all be likewise put on probation for a year and made to pass an attitude test before employment by the various media networks?
