What will happen to the UK if the Conservatives win a majority Government?

It will be Thatcherism on steroids just without the economic boom.

A Conservative majority government would mean a Conservative-run hard Brexit, which would run massively against the interests of working-class people in the country. A referendum vote built on the promise of £350 million a day extra for the National Health Service would likely lead to the exact opposite and leave open the possibility of trade deals including opening up parts of the NHS to American pharmaceutical companies.

Here is Trump refusing to rule it out:

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_497Hp_nGz8]

Here is Nigel Farage (Mr Brexit), caught advocating an 'insurance-based' healthcare model:

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUx0slUceNY]

Here is an article about 'Britania Unchained,' which is an ideological manifesto advocating further privatization of British service, slashing worker protections and further de-regulating businesses (including banks) and further tax cuts for the rich. Four of the five authors are current cabinet ministers and Boris wrote the foreword:

https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2019/07/britannia-unchained-free-market-book-defines-boris-johnson-s-new-cabinet

Here is leaked Whitehall document which shows that the government already have plans for a 'Singapore-style' free-market tax haven for Britain:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/leaked-brexit-documents-reveal-tories-20732520

These are the ideological forces at work behind the Tory Brexit. These are not people who care about the working class of this country but are right-wing free-market ideologues who want to tilt the balance of power in this country even more onto the side of big business.

Now, if you want to make an argument for a Thatcherism on steroids version of Britain and the break-up of this country's already strained public sector, then I can argue that with you. However, this point is not being argued by the Conservatives and is in fact being semi-hidden because it would (rightly) be massively unpopular with the UK public. Neither Brexit voters nor remain voters want that to happen.

However, if the Conservatives win this election, then there will be little holding them back. They don't want to be free of the EU because of sovereignty but because they want to free of EU rules preventing them from doing what I described above. The migration issue always was a trojan horse for Ayn Randian economic libertarianism.

Corporate tax rates heading to single figures so we become attractive to USA companies as an offshore tax haven.

A USA trade deal will mean 8 believe selling health services to USA insurance providers, at least a two tier system.

Our food standards will be lowered or at least we'll allow import of USA GM crops, chlorine washed chicken and hormone I injected beef.

This is all what USA proposed under Obama in the deal the EU declined to endorse once they realised the opposition to it throughout EU.

Farage has long supported insurance based health care. He failed to get ukip to endorse it in 2015 & 2017. He then went with the no manifesto idea ie you can't hold us accountable

@SW-User Its all true but most people do not realise all of this.

@Burnley123 🤷‍♂️ I've given up trying to have a debate about it the abuse and arrogance astound me.

With regards to the NHS I am glad that in Wales it is in the hands of the Assembly-Trump won’t be getting his dirty hands on the Welsh NHS.
I dread a majority Tory government-but then I always do.Their policies caused me four years of unemployment in the eighties.I can never forgive that.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales nor will a lot of people there unemployment and hardship caused by thatcher and her cronies the tories are never going to do the working make any favours in the long term
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Just look at what happened to Kansas and apply that to the entire UK.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula I've read Thomas Frank on that. Unfortunately, I think your analogy works.

@thatscottishguy she's a crying cow that can't accept any decision that goes against what she wants. She talks crap. Ian Blackford is a far better politician
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@SW-User Ahh yes and I'm sure you'll be very accepting of a remain vote. All you seem to be able to do is insult people. You're pathetic. Now go start some more drama and delete your account for a day or something.

@thatscottishguy hahahahaha

Apologies, I didn't read all of that but just to say.. it is believed, considered, that a good many working class people voted Brexit.. and, we have to remember that it's half, more or less, of the conservatives who are fighting against a hard Brexit..

Boris is an idiot, a pleb, who is unlikely to win even a game of tiddly-winks.. he's no Thatcher! And I know this cos I lived through Thatcherism!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Adaydreambeliever I realise its a lot to read. I did that because I wanted to provide evidence.

There aren't really Conservatives fighting Brexit anymore because the Brexiteers have completely won that battle within the party. The main people fighting it are leaving or have left.

A lot of working-class people voted for Brexit and I know plenty myself. I just think people have been conned.

I did vote remain though I'm not a hard remainer. It might be maybe possible to have a different kind of Brexit. What I'm doing here is highlighting what the people in charge of the process believe.

@Burnley123 I wasn't complaining about the length.. I believe people need and should have opportunity to read more than just a one liner on here.. It's only that I am tired and, like many, bored to death of Brexit! And it offends me to even see that man, Boris's name in print!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Adaydreambeliever No it's fair enough. Even I'm sick of Brexit but the 'let's get Brexit done' idea is a lie. All that has been negotiated is the withdrawal agreement. Other details will take years to resolve. One way or another, this will go on for many years and I don't like it either.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
Well it's happened! Fasten your seat belts people of the UK. This is going to be one hell of a bumpy roller coaster ride!
SmartKat · 56-60, F
The whole world seems to be plagued with this right-wing b.s.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SmartKat It does. We are perhaps more vulnerable that the US because Brexit will provide a bigger shock. They US institutions have prevented Trump from doing everything he wants.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@SmartKat ok but our conservatives are very, very different from the repubs you know and love.. just to reassure you.. I don't pretend they are good but they are nothing like the right wing there.
