Where do you get your source of news about current events?

From the mainstream to the independent media outlets. Examples:

Fox - CNN - MSNBC - CBS - CSPAN - Vox - Vice - The Rebel - Info Wars - Louder with Crowder - CRTV - Huffington Post - The Young Turks - the list goes on.

If so, how come?

Current events, I usually find out through some form of social media, then its a toss-up about more research I do to learn more.

I try and use a guide like this to get me to the best sources.

@Pherick I really don't care what you think. I'm just telling you how it is.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@eli1601 Guess what? I don't care what you think either. Thanks for wasting my time.

@Pherick Anything I can do 👍️

i'm weird, i will look at CNN and Fox, and then watch Young Turks and the Ben Shapiro Show and enjoy both sometime

im more conservative, but i think it is fun to see all different sides
DestroyerOfIdeologies · 22-25, M
@Hunter1999 oh that's cool that you look at both sides. I'm more left but I've watched Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson, even Red Ice. Of course being more left I also watch left outlets. My favorite is PBSNews Hour.

I have books by both Christopher Hitchens and William Buckley.Jr.

Reuters because, on the rare occasions when it has presented news that isn't entirely correct, it has been thoroughly slammed. Its entire reputation is tied up with getting the news and financial markets right.

I find it really quaint that people think the news they receive is mostly true.

@eli1601 no it takes a lot to offend me, for real. It's just annoying to me when people state the obvious. Maybe that wasn't obvious to everyone though, so I jumped the gun.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@SW-User 😂 Annoyed are we.
SW-User
@eli1601 yes. That is accurate.

But you'd better fact check.

And then fact check the fact checking.

And then fact check those. ;)

Alex Jones, the rest are trying to mold your political opinions with how they skew the news. Info Wars gives you the strait dope in a no spin zone.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Subsumedpat If you want to rely on a source for your news that has admitted in court and under oath that their content is fabricated, you go right ahead and do so.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Sarcasm: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual.

For sarcasm to be any good you have to wonder if I mean it or not.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Subsumedpat Unfortunately, sarcasm doesn't work well in the current political arena, where vast numbers of conservatives actually do believe in conspiracy theories and obviously bogus scenarios.
I don't do TV or internet news as a primary source. They're all media boutiques. Propaganda.

I listen to people in my circle. Some people are very tuned to certain issues. So when Michael talks about economics, I take him seriously. And then I forage. Heather knows women's issues. Bob knows science funding.

Sometimes I just contact primary sources.

@GeorgiaHoodlum Al Jazeera is good.
I dont watch / listen or read about the news - if I hear something - look it up and there is my news
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
I don't normally check news that much.
TakingBackMidgard · 26-30, M
@FreestyleArt If something happens whether an act of crime or natural disaster or along that line I read up on what happened but not the portion when they bring in the politics and try and tel you what to think of it.
deadgerbil · 22-25
I'd say NPR, CNN, The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Hill, USA Today, BBC, New York Post, Daily Mail.

I stay away from The Young Turks and Fox.
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
I read my local city paper.

then CNN when I want to prove that yellow journalism is still thriving.
