Socialism has no place in America.

Socialists in the U.S. use Venezuela as a prime example of the perfect utopia and it's now a socialist failed state and it costs 600 U.S. dollars to buy ketchup and now allies itself with all of our worst enemies.

That alone should be enough of a reason why Socialism should never be implemented here in America.

Most americans don't understand what social democracy is. You should educate yourself rather than stay ignorant or dismissing another viewpoint without listening to them. Social democracy is not socialism. There are clear differences. Most of the people being labeled by some ignorant americans as "socialists" believe in social democracy. and Venezuela is not a social democracy, it is a dictatorship.

@SW-User also you can be a republic and a social democracy at the same time.
SW-User
@liv526 Yes we are a one various form of democracy. We are a constitutional republic.
But we are no means a Social Democracy or a Socialist Nation because both of those forms are one in the same.
liv526 · 22-25, F
@SW-User I know we aren't a Social Democracy or a Socialist nation but you are wrong in saying they are the same thing. That is just not factually correct. There are very big differences between the two.

I dont see your point.

I haven't heard or read of any American socialist holding Venezuela up as a model of governance.

Because Venezuela isnt socialist - It's a corrupt dictatorship.

@SW-User

Hugo Chavez was actually a classic populist, and had more in common with Trump than any socialist leaders.

But what doesn't make sense is your claim that American socialists heaped praise on the regime he and Maduro created. I can't find any proof for that anywhere.

If you want to know what real socialists think of the regime in Venezuela check this out :

The fact is socialist groups have been sounding the alarm on Venezuala and blasting Maduro for over a year.

I recommend to anyone who thinks "socialism" is bad for america. Listen to this conversation. Andrew Yang is a progressive who believes in social democratic policy (which is not socialism but americans typically think they are the same thing). And if you think it is fake news this is coming from your favorite source of news, Fox News, via Tucker Carlson.

The lazy want free stuff and they will argue with you that it's "different". Can't talk common sense with them.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Venezuela is an oil-rich nation that now has citizens dying from starvation and lack of medical care....what were they thinking?
SW-User
@cherokeepatti they wanted free stuff and they got what they wanted. But now everything is free but nothing can survive there that's worth anything.

And you're hoping the brainless drones are going to learn from someone else's mistake? Never happen.
SW-User
@katielass The socialist excuse has always been and somehow they get away with it.

"Well True socialism wasn't done right but with the right people it could be"

But the next try is always just as bad if not worse then the first try.

Nice to see a young person not supporting socialism.

Mustard is another reason. I mean who can afford mustard these days. Don't even get me started about mayonaise. Did I spell that right?

Bernie Sanders disagrees.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@LonelyMan Did you see that gesture he made at the State of the Union address when the president said “America will never be a Socialist country”? He grabbed his top lip & wiggled it a bit but tears came into his eyes anyway. He knows.
LonelyMan · M
He needs to consider moving to Venezuela!
