This dude in my university is claiming that Antifa is "the greatest threat to United States national security."

@AgapeLove They only support violence against NAZIs. You can agree or disagree with that but it's their position.

Antifa itself is not even a centralised organisation. Its more of a network of like-minded groups who have decided that violence is the best strategy against NAZIs. Lots of people call themselves Antifa when there are not really connected. In addition, a lot of things get attributed to Antifa which are nothing to do with them. Its a catch-all bogeyman thing.

Of course, Shapiro is not a white supremacist. I don't support de-platforming him even if I do think his political positions are both wrong and disingenuous. He recently called the (Jewish) Glenn Greenwald an anti-Semite, which is dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric.

@AgapeLove My point about Shapiro is that he is using straw-man arguments and thinks anyone who criticises Israel is an anti-semite. I just don't think Antifa think all Trump supporters are NAZIS

@AgapeLove Terrorism kills a tiny number of people statistically so yeah. Their power comes from creating fear with shock tactics and gaining publicity. I was talking to a Muslim guy yesterday and told him that statistically, his kids have more chance of dying by a hundred other causes by terrorism and that fear lets terrorists win.

The violence of street gangs is greater. My solutions would be to tackle social deprivation and de-criminalise drugs.

@AgapeLove Shapiro relies on speaking quickly and knowing a box of tricks. The substance of his analysis is weak and I'm not surprised Harris beat him. That is why Shapiro normally only picks arguments with students or amateurs, not intellectuals.
