I think we political people on all sides are guilty of this

Let’s beat people with facts, not pointless name-calling, okay?
LyricalOne · F
Yep, that should do the trick.
@AndrewtheAlu Please don't get mad. What you said is wise and beyond valid. I'm just playing the cynic and feeling smug and clever. You're on the high road here. I'm not.
@puck61 I’m fine, I know you’re alright mate 😅
@AndrewtheAlu Well, at least in this case. I'm either David Duke or Diogenes depending on who you ask.

Ugly is often shorthand for evil and we can pretty much thank Disney for that.

@JaggedLittlePill yeah so did Rasputin. He had brains. So does every crime boss. Doesn't mean they are good. If anything intellect appears to predispose some towards evil. However I was talking about Disney as a huge corporate entity, not the man.

And I don't think they are the root of all evil but it is absolutely undeniable the effect they have on children and their expectations.

The messages are clear.

One of the clearest is this:

Ugly people are bad or did something to deserve a curse of ugly. Being pretty = good unless you are a witch who can change her appearance at will and some like Maleficent and Mad Madam Mim are monsters in their true forms.

Beauty and the beast the beast only turns handsome after being ugly cursed (well ugly for a human and more so in the actual story); the princess and the frog is a similar story.

Name me an ugly Disney protagonist who was under no curse of ugly and/or was born ugly and did not get changed to a handsome/beautiful version by the end of the movie.

@AndrewtheAlu he wasn't in the original either. Of course he was named Kye and he wasn't an ice harvester but rather a boy who was essentially kidnapped by the snow queen after getting a shard of the mirror into his eye.

@Doomflower I laughed out loud with the Hans Christian Anderson comment!
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I can agree with this.

I find myself in the most ridiculous back and forth's..mostly because I actually give a fuck and the dumb just angers me.
they never get toooooo the dam point lol

Both sides engage in "playing" the fans (voters), to maintain their illusion of true relevance, and to diminish the appeal of potential rivals (third parties).
@VeronicaPrincess As much as I like Trump, I'm willing to admit that he 'performs' to his base like a court jester, but that can also be seen as good political tactics . I'm fatalistic about the whole mess. I know Trump is oafish and arrogant. I know he is no saint and probably knows very little about what it is like to be one of the working poor, or a single mom, or someone who falls through the health insurance cracks, etc etc.., I just like what he has done and what he wants to do, and I am an inexhaustible compendium of anti leftist rhetoric and vitriol, because I hate the leftist mindset with every fiber of my being.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
And when you do? The other side says your facts are "fake news."
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Greybare

Thanks for proving my point.
@Greybare but the people reciting them won’t know they’re lies, so calling them liars is unhelpful
@beckyromero Fake news is fake! 😁👍
Most people don't have facts or the reason to distinguish between facts and lies
@jetpack do you?
@AndrewtheAlu no one has all the facts. The honest person looks for them. I do my personal best to see the truth and reject and recognize misinformation even when it challenges my beliefs
I wish those style of hats would get picked up by the public eye.
Eyes ain't got any arms! >:-[
