Why do some people idolize adolf Hitler?

Why do some people consider Hitler a hero
He was a powerful orator who sold his vision of how to make a nation great to his people. The guy was very effective, and it took the rest of the world years to bring him down. Even today, many leaders strive to emulate him.

Sure, he had his faults, and you might not like all of his goals. You might even find him rude, crude, and immoral.

But at the end of the day, he is not, IMO, a leader we should forget about.

@MistyCee he was appointed chancellor not elected as one.

For one thousand years Europeans have been coming together despite differences to murder jews and others. It's not as hard as it may seem, because the hatred of jews was already there. His base was there. They were dispersed, and though he may have convinced some, he didn't convince most.
@SW-User Thank you for the correction. So, you don't give the guy much credit?

He was in the right place at the right time?
SW-User
@MistyCee I give him credit for taking being an astute politician, and taking power. However, he was a tyrant as he was not democratically elected.

He was in the right place and time, and also was the right leader for the far right. Germany was at a crossroads, things could have gone far left, mid-center or far right. The people chose the center, but the far right took power anyways. Not because the people loved him, but because he was an astute politician with an army at his side.

It's a mystery, not unlike the same ones that idolize Obama.

@curiosi 🤔🤷‍♂️
Honestly my take on it is that the people that see this man as a hero or look up at him basically failed or squeaked by every class in HS - history included.

The reason that he is admired is because there is a group of antagonistic people that know that the word Hitler is a name; when mentioned, will invoke controversy. The name is associated with hate and disdain by normal people. But you will always have the group that has to be different, so they choose someone that is famous for all the wrong reasons.

A group that has or probably does not have the brains to read his book or take the time to know his biography. I am proud to say that I know very little of the man. And I feel that the people that think he is a hero - actually don't feel that way deep down either, they will argue on his behalf that he did this and that just to get a "rise" out of you.

When pinned down they will almost come up with the standard line "he made the trains run on time" , I Must say Germany's trains must have been in pretty bad shape if a little Jewish homosexual art school dropout could accomplish such a mind blowing task.

I think the question should be WHY DID THE GERMANS AT THAT TIME FOLLOW HIM and look up to him as if he was the second coming.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Razorback They were not the most or least educated - but neither education nor intelligence had much to do with it. They felt pushed around and downtrodden by the post-ww1 order - with pretty good reason, while experiencing horrendous economic misery, hyperinflation, etc.

That doesn’t lead to the most rational outlook. Fear in anger in general don’t, no matter how smart you are.

Populist authoritarians are being elected all over the world right now. It's the same phenomenon.

He was elected because people were sick of the status quo and wanted a strong man to return Germany to former greatness. The antisemitism was absolutely a part of that but at the time, nobody was calling for the Holocaust.
Because they are moronic idiots
Trying to assign motivation to the actions of a deranged mind is a fools errand.

Well he’s created some of the worlds greatest marvels.

I don’t idolize him but even the sick and twisted have contributed more than what people actually know.

You people should educate yourself beyond the same 7th grade text book.
Dateless · 31-35, M
Agreed.

@Dateless History is full of tyrants who did some good things. Its easy to give them credit. The hard part is finding those who did good for humanity and receive no credit.

Get your GED and take some community college history classes. Not because of the degrees, but because the teachers can be amazing and teach more than what might expect. Its great for history lovers.

Alternate thinking which is very hard to understand
MrAboo · 36-40, M
I can only think they admire him bringing Germany out of the depression the country was in. One guy I met in Tennessee seemed fixated on the handouts the government by Hitler was giving the ppl. I have yet to meet any one who genuinely believes in hitlers ideology. However I suspect such a person would not be very coherent in anything.

I'm sure anti-Semitic people find redeeming qualities in his vision. I can't imagine anyone else that would idolize him
Dateless · 31-35, M
People find redeeming qualities in all types of things.

Being specific to one thing and not trying to educate yourself on other things is all determined on you.@GJOFJ3
