Can Trump get pettier?

McCain isn't laid to rest yet and Trump can't resist showing his profound insecurities and pettiness. He vetoed an official statement outlining McCain's achievements in military service and in politics. The American flag on the WH is today at full mast, no doubt an order from the orange coward himself or someone taking the initiative as they didn't want to face the rage of the manchild who takes exception to someone else (even dead men) being the focus of attention for a few days. My initial reaction was anger, but that quickly turned to pity. Pity for the deluded souls who still believe Trump walks on water. Shame on you.

I sort of wish 'shame' was a real thing and carried some weight for certain types of people. Clearly it doesn't.

I initially misread this as asking if he could get "prettier" and decided to pretend that I didn't correct myself.

@SW-User LMAO! 🤣

How come Lindsey Graham hasn't issued a statement about his 'great friend' John McCain ?

What is that Trump has on him ?
@LegendofPeza I'd like to think Graham is just biting his tongue or picking his battles, but he's already backed off on replacing Sessions, and signaled that he'd support someone loyal to Trump over the oath of office, so Trump, or maybe Putin, must have something.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@MistyCee Yep ,there's speculation that Graham's e-mails were hacked the same time as the DNC and it's not improbable that Trump would be privvy to anything incriminating.

There seems to be absolutely no other reason why Graham would go from his biggest critic to chief cheerleader , or at least none that I'm aware of.

They put the flag back to full staff?

Edited
HerKing · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie I have to regrettably disagree with you. What he does isn't unbelievable anymore. It's entirely predictable and says how much of an insecure child he is. He hasn't the compassion or sheer decency to think of no-one else but himself. Off topic but remember the photo of him going up the steps of AF1 in the rain and he had the brolly with his youngest son walking up behind him getting wet? That sums up Trump's world view. I'm just wondering where the current Trump staffers in the WH will work after he's gone. I would leave it off my resume.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@HerKing Yes I remember that scene. I also remember Baron seemed totally casual about it... it is what it is.
@HerKing I'm not sure if it would be worth omitting working for the WH during Trump's presidency would be such a great idea - face it, it's got to be quite the achievement for anyone forced to endure that atrocity!!!

Read the comment again. Unless you’d prefer a Russian translation Comrade? @HerKing

@jackjjackson Naaa, I'm not called Trump. Then again, I'd probably learn Russian long before Trump mastered English.
What’s with the flag commen? You do know that the total half staff time for McCain was twice as long as the Ted Kennedy half staff time directed by President Obama right? @HerKing

Possibly because this is the limit of his “miltary experience”:

He vetoed an "official statement"?

Just think about that for a minute or two. I don't really know how that works, but it sure sounds bizarre, even for the Trump White House.

Was there some spending attached?

SMH.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@MistyCee Not so much spending as cost. Cost to Trump's ego, and having to acknowledge the reality after saying McCain wasn't a hero because he was captured in Vietnam-which as Trump wouldn't know was the result of being shot down as he was providing ground support for troops on the ground.
@HerKing yeah. I think your talking about his refusing to issue the statement his aides had prepared, which I knew about.

Using the word veto threw me, because it sounded like he'd rejected something from Congress.

It's petty, I agree, but really, its Trump's call as to what he says as to whether he thinks service to the country or loyalty to him is more important and he seems to be pretty consistent in that regard.

More lies king?

The President’s statement:

Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain's service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment.

I have asked Vice President Mike Pence to offer an address at the ceremony honoring Senator McCain at the United States Capitol this Friday.

At the request of the McCain family, I have also authorized military transportation of Senator McCain's remains from Arizona to Washington, D.C., military pallbearers and band support, and a horse and caisson transport during the service at the United States Naval Academy.

Finally, I have asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis, and Ambassador John Bolton to represent my Administration at his services.

President Donald Trump on Monday gave his respects to deceased Sen. John McCain "despite our differences on policy and politics," and signed an order to fly the U.S. flag at half staff.
Gee whiz king you’re really wound up. Did you even read what I wrote? The saddest part is that the Dems and folks like you are using the occasion of the death of someone the opposed in life to take potshots at the President? You seem as usual. Ore interested in skewering the President than paying your respects to McCain @HerKing
HerKing · 61-69, M
@jackjjackson Potshots as in pointing out Trump's indecency and moral bankruptcy? Those potshots? If he'd been a stronger man and not smashed up like he was and more aggressive, McCain would have been forgiven for dropping that orange coward after denigrating POWs who he doesn't consider heroic because they were POWs. Fuck him, he's scum. And a coward.
More potshots? In you are interested here are the VA flag flying guidelines:

The flag is to be flown at half-staff at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in the Washington, D.C., area on the day and day after the death of a United States senator, representative, territorial delegate, or the resident commissioner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It should also be flown at half-staff on all federal facilities in the state, congressional district, territory, or commonwealth of these officials.

Not that I have a problem lengthening the time for McCain, but the WHITE HOUSE (the President doesn’t personally handle followed the VA guidelines. You may be interested to know that The White House followed the VA guidelines following the death of Ted Kennedy.
