President Obama, is the first President to stand up to Saudi Arabia. Not that the other Presidents were scared, but because the neo-con strategy was our foreign policy.
Saudi Arabia, with its oil wealth, is the centerpiece of the neo-colonialist US foreign policy, until President Obama. Primarily why the Saudis went full tilt against Obama, and was 100% for Trump.
Trump believes he can restore Saudi's role, as a US puppet. The puppet part will probably work, but this is the same strategy that gave us Afghanistan, Yemen, ISIS, Bin Laden, decades of oppression of human rights, etc.
