Scotland rejects May's EU withdrawal bill giving May a huge problem.

The Scottish branches of Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens backed the SNP's call to reject the bill based on clause 11 that proposes ways of power-sharing after Brexit that could see the Scottish Parliament lose powers. The vote is not legally binding but if May pushes on with it instead of delivering a bill Scotland agrees to then it will technically be the first time Westminster has pushed through laws against the will of Scotland. This would give the SNP a huge boost to their hopes of a second independence referendum.

13 we heard all this about going into recession, and our economy would dive, and London come to a standstill, when all the remainders said we should stay in EU before referendum, not see much of all the doom and gloom they predicted if we left EU
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Well we haven't actually left yet and being out of the UK but in the EU will let us govern ourselves while enjoying the benefits of the single market and the free movement of people.

Scottishguy, there is a big wide world out there to trade with, do Scottish people want thousands of immigrants in Scotland taking jobs, and you have no say how many come, I don't know much about how you all feel up there, but I think it's time UK took back control, of our money laws, and everything else, just my opinion
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Yes we do want them. Immigration is good for any economy but especially ours as emigration has been a problem for ages in Scotland. We need immigrants. As for the taking our jobs thing if that happens then we have to attack the employers not the immigrants. Employers looking to pay people tiny amounts are the problem. There is a big wide world to trade with but you can actually trade with it while being in the single market. I am not a fan of the EU but it can benefit us. Far more than being hitched to toryland can.

Scottishguy yes if it is controlled immigration , yes but employers will do this , they are a buissnes and want to make money, so will employ cheap labour and not a lot you can do about who they employ. Can I ask you something do our honestly think London would collapse when we leave EU, and the likes of Germany and France won't want to sell there goods to us. I am not fan of EU, if it was that great, just look at the problems Spain, Portugal, Greece, and other countries got with unemployment
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
There are ways to stop them from being able to pay them less. No I never believed it would collapse. Both sides had terrible scaremongering campaigns. Greece is a big part of why I dislike the EU.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
Yes agree with you both campaigns were full of scaremongering, and lies from both sides, other countries are also in trouble not just Greece, how do you think them country's are going to feel when they are going to have to make up the billions EU will lose from UK, I think the EU and who is running it will never change, and listen and move with the times, that's why I think it's time to get out
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
In or out the EU I'm not bothered. Getting away from Wwstminster is the priority.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
