I can't stand Trump, but this gov't shutdown by Dems is ridiculous. Know what I mean?

I have to side with the Republicans on this. Sorry.

You can't have a government shutdown with only one responsible party. True, I think both parties use the "shutdown" threat as a chip in a game when it's no such thing. However, the Republicans, on the President dragging coattails, have found a way to dismantle the ACA and DACA piece by small piece as part of other legislation. Dems won't have that because it runs directly contrary to the party's principles.

The only way to prevent a shut down is to have more than two legitimately powerful parties or outlaw shutdowns altogether.

The majority of the public wants true immigration reform. Schumer and his ilk are blocking it ... FOR NOW. @Graylight

Trump walked back on multiple deals -- leverage was necessary.

Here is my thinking. We don’t know how many illegals are here. We will never know. We will never deport all the illegals. Getting rid of criminal illegals as part of an overall plan seems like a good idea. Having a “Wall” whatever thst means as of today is a good idea (local people in the border areas endorse some additional “walling” and since they live there I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Enforcing existing laws to prevent future illegals is a good idea. Abolishing quotas and lotteries and establishing merit based rules is a good idea. Putting all of that together would work for the majority of voters. @SW-User
