I Sometime Think I Was Born In the Wrong Era

Good day miss,
Tail coats and top hats, women with gowns; modest yet elegant.
In a time where chivalry was alive and courting was considered the norm.
A time where a man would commit to his love and marry.
A time where people would talk to one another and not be glued to electronic devices.
A time where music was actually beautiful and poetry was still alive.
A time where lengthy eye contact was considered first base.
Family time in the drawing room, children playing on the streets..
Its all gone, vanished!
Take me back..
Take me back to a time where i considered the world to be my home...

There was no doubt some bad stuff about that era too. Smoking, poor hygiene, bad health, lack of opportunities for women and many more. How about this? How about isolating the values that you admire about that bygone era and trying to live by them in a modern way?

You can greet people with other than "hey".
You can dress well.
You can demand respect of any suitors.
You can choose well and marry for life.
You can banish personal electronics to their rightful time and place.
You can find and enjoy good music and poetry.
You can set boundaries on your amourous activities.
You can gather indoors while offering appropriately supervised unscheduled time for your children=n to play.

No need to long for Little House on the Prairie or Downton Abbey; just pick the best aspects and weave them into your modern life.

Good day miss.

I wish we could extract the positive of the days gone by and insert them in modern society... I'm with you, dear. This coming from a person that is told dresses like a nun and behaves like a grandmother

Awful things are wherever you go, life has It's ups and downs, but focusing on negatives won't get you anywhere, the original author only said she missed the qualities life today lacks.

Oh yes...those beautiful times when chicken pox and crime was rampant across the country. A time before bathrooms. Where stepping on crap was common.
I love those days to the bone! <333
All true. But we women had little rights back then. And not all of it is a fairytale. But, yeah, would have been nice to experience the manners and polite prettiness.

I do miss some of that. Courting a woman is great fun. Lost on the hookup generation.

Yep, courting seems to be a thing of the past now. It's the hookup generation.
